I am sure that this has been posted several times before...but i am so frustrated with taking a 15 ft swing for a 12 ft putt and the ball going 1 inch.  This happens sometimes when your ball lies on the fringe and i don't get it.  In 25 years of golfing this has never happened to me nor have i ever seen it happen to anyone else.  Can WGT ever fix this bug?

That used to happen to me all the time too. Now i always chip it, leaving it close or sometimes dropping it in the hole. no more swinging and missing!

It appears from other posts that WGT does not consider this a bug. To me it seems like a matter of degree. If you have only a little fringe to go through, it seems that hitting 15 feet for a 12-foot putt, as in Willy's example, should not get stuck. But if you have, say, a ticklish 8-foot downhill putt on Oakmont through 1 foot of fringe, and you hit it with 5 feet of power, it should get stuck in the fringe. The consensus seems to be to putt from the fringe only if there is less than, say, half a foot of fringe to go through, or it is a long putt and the proportion of fringe is trivial compared to the overall length.

i never putt from on the fringe period. sometimes it's better to forget what is a straight forward shot in real golf because this isn't real life golf.

I most definitely agree with your logic zagraniczniak and i would be totally fine with Oakmont example because that has happened to me.  But with 1 ft of fringe on a 12 ft or more putt...seems like a bug to me.  Just my opinion i guess.

I also understand your point  BigEasy about this just being a game, but in my opinion the game is exceptionally realistic and very well designed.  This is one of the few actual 'bugs' to me, along with some players ability to levitate over water or stand on one leg while hitting a full shot!..lol.  I would just like to see it addressed one day.

    Thanks guys.

Doesn't seem like the people in charge really care much about the quality of the game, but only about making $$.  If they cared this BUG would not still be on the game 1 year and 1 thousand posts about the issue later.
