this is a very well thought out plan mr young. i believe what may have hurt past twitch/youtube events was a lack of prior advertising and they were consistantly a few minutes late getting started.

Live Events could get this game even bigger. Come on WGT, give it a go!... well at least a thought!

Whilst I like the idea and it certainly has merit I cannot see WGT/TG forking out for airfares and accommodation in addition to a prize pool. And would WGT also pay for players to ship their computers or would they have to use a standard set up provided by WGT?

Personally I do not think the sales of special equipment would fund this, especially as this would also require programmers time to develop these. Of course it would also depend on the size of the final pool but the more players the less viable it gets and would lose impact IMO.

Bear in mind, players will presumably coming from around the globe. A flight from LHR to SFO will cost circa US600+, that is 75x 800cr avatars alone (minimum) just for one persons flight.

But I love the idea of transparency - that is what the game needs.

Like I said, I do like the thinking but unless WGT can see that it will profit from an event like this, it sadly will not happen.

It may also be worth bearing in mind that of these that would buy this a significant percentage would be credit winners for whom the exchange rate is 165,00c to $250 gift card.  Also sales of special equipment could impact elsewhere.

I do wonder how many of the credit spenders, including those who have responded above, would deposit money or watch ad's to get any of this.  I'd like it to happen but wouldn't pay for it in this way.

I agree with this and think it is important and surely has value for WGT.  A chance to showcase  their game in this way, show doubters what scores can be achieved honestly and let us all see how "easy" it is to do it.

Based purely on sales to cost I'd agree, cost to good publicity inside and outside those who now play may be different.  The financial cost of this would surely be small viewed as an advertising campaign.

From memory, the last one was cancelled as they tried to and couldn't sell tickets for spectators (who would meet the players, get tips etc)  to attend the event.  There were no advance sales, but as ticket prices were high and anyone paying wouldn't at that stage know who was playing in it/exactly what they were getting perhaps this wasn't surprising.

    OK

I wrote the below in a thread that I started back in 2013. I was laughed out by two replies and did not bother to go into it further

    Hi

Why for all the disbelievers and so called double accounters, etc. does WGT not set up a worldwide live competition, just as say Poker Stars does

Set up a venue in major towns, cities, all over the world and charge an entry fee and of course offer real prize money. Have prizes for all Tier levels and every entrant comes to the venue, registers and plays his game live in front of real judges.

That way there can be no illegal software help, everybody plays on the same type of PC and the so called fantastic super players(double accounters) who "steal"  ready gos wont even bother to show up.

The winner from every town or city would then go onto a national final say in the most major city in that country and then from that go onto the Worldwide final.

I do not think it would be that difficult to organise if almost every other sport can manage to do it.

Just a suggestion, I know I would attend for sure

The monies generated from the pro shop item(s) would be more than enough to cover the cost of airfare/hotel & prize pool. I have been doing some research, there's a game online that has done an on-site invitational for the past two years. The pay for airfare/hotel for over 50 people and sell something similar to what I am suggesting to build up a prize pool. Only 25% of the cost of this one item goes towards the prize pool. With just 25%, the prize pool was nearly $300,000. All that from a site that from what I can see has quite a bit less monthly unique visitors than WGT.

By doing a 50/50 split on the item(s) sold, there shouldn't be a problem generating the necessary funds to facilitate sending 6-10 people to compete. Obviously the other half would be revenue for WGT ... everyone wins.

Each participant would need to use the same computers, it wouldn't really be fair if one player had their own computer while others had to use a generic computer they have never played on before.
