CerinoDevoti:
I'll ask again since the other thread asked for no comments, why would the average member care about this? The top players have all the credits imaginable and you expect the rest of us to buy useless crap to fund their trip and winnings? Really???
My opinion is no friggin way. I can watch all the top players now that upload their rounds. Frankly it always looks the same anyway.
How about the top players each have 500,000 credits deducted from their own accounts to pay for their own trip? I'll plus one that. ;)
As for the other thread, they can ask for no comments but there is nothing stopping anyone voicing their concerns.....however you posted here so I will reply here.
Probably the average player will not care, just as many do not vote in elections (apart from in Aussie - where you get a fine if you don't lol).
A players accrued credits is irrelevant IMO. But as these players do win a lot of credits, then some accountability is required. Whilst live streaming and posting videos is good, we still only see what we are allowed to see.
Will it cost the average players to fund this? Perhaps but if done well, will not cost a cent - fund it by sponsorship and getting new companies on board. This game is pretty marketable in a lucrative golf market, this could exploit the game as the premium golf game around. I have played with a lot of people and they have not even heard of the game.....these are regular golfers. This game still has untapped potential if someone could drive the process - whether WGT/TG have anyone capable of doing this currently is very debatable.
You appear to have a grudge against players who have accrued a lot of credits......perhaps that is me just seeing it that way but it comes across as sour grapes.
Now bearing in mind credits can be cashed in as gift cards or something tangible (regardless of the exchange rate) then there has to be some checks and balances in place to offer some accountability and integrity.
The simple thing is, when there are potential benefits from anything in life, a minority of people will exploit it....fact.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to have the accrued credits, but I am happy(ish lol) to pay to play as the game is good value IMO. But then again, I do not gamble and play for fun.
My biggest concern is to offer that accountability you would need a big enough sample of the top players (minimum 50). That is when the cost of bringing players in from around the globe and the cost of hotels may blow out. And if that comes at the cost of future development - I am dead against it. Any less, the value of such an event diminishes in my eyes and will be a pointless and futile exercise.
Add to that, when would it happen and could all those players make those dates? If they can't the rumors will start.......and even if they do rock up, and play badly, it will be the computers fault, the environment, the pressure, and even if true, the rumors will abound.....
Personally I still cannot see this really getting off the ground as WGT are good at estimating commercial viability - if there is no profit to be reaped from something, then they will not do it. If the sample is too small it is a waste of time, cost and effort.
