Since 20th Oct 16 when I play the game in Firefox it will not recognise any clicks etc. from my mouse. Refreshing Firefox cures it but if I hibernate and re-awake the problem re-occurs.

    Works fine in Edge

Has Flash updated in your FF - to V23?

Some reports point to this culprit.

And if you still run Win XP, it may be worse than elsewhere.

I have exactly the same problem, I can solve the clicking problem by minimizing the window then maximizing it again. However my processor is suddenly struggling with the graphics and my swing bar is juddery and impossible to stop on the ding. Can you regress to an old flash version? If so how pls?

+1  I am using FF with XP and could not play for 2 days due to crazy meter. Uninstalled Flash and downloaded V22 now back up and running.

Make sure to turn off auto update for Flash after you do this.
