So I am tried of getting out shot on Par 5s. What would you guys recommend? A new driver and a new 3 wood? Taylor Made R1 TP 9.0 L48+ and R11 3Wood L30+

    Thanks

Don't waste your $, you have way more than enough with the equipment you have. Get a decent ball and learn to manage the course. You can buy all the equipment you want, it's not going to help if you don't manage your way around the courses.

This means playing from the fairway, not pounding the ball as far as you can and dealing with whatever happens. By your stats you can't get up and down from sand or rough and it takes you a minimum of 2 putts to get off a green. New equipment isn't going to fix that. Playing more than once a month will.

You have to work at learning this game, you can't buy it.

Much of the time your chances of getting a bird on a par 5 are better if you lay up to a good wedge distance for you instead of pounding a 3 wood someplace towards the green that you have little chance of reaching or having a decent putt anyway.

YJ is spot on with his advice (as usual) ^^^.

Another option is to take my approach. I view par 3's as a par 5...and par 5's as a par 7.

I don't win many games, but I'm rarely disappointed with my scoring.:)

    YankeeJim,

What would you suggest in terms of a better ball? Also, what is the best way to get better at getting up and down from sand and rough? Do you have a specific video on YouTube or on WGT that you would suggest I can learn from?

I am playing exclusively from an Iphone 6, btw. Not sure if that makes much of a difference.

    Thanks!

    Who are you playing ?

    Ranked Rounds 48

    M/P 0 Rounds

    A/S 0 Rounds

So who are you playing ? If you want to play better then you have to put your time in . As YJ said you have the clubs you just have to learn how to use them . You have to play the game just like playing the real game of golf . So practice practice and then more practice .Thats how you get better and the only way you will get better .

Have to agree 100% with Jim. Generally, your clubs are fine and are not the issue. I suppose you could get a new 3 wood. But that wouldn't solve any issues.

Can you guys give me a breakdown of how you approach your play?

For me, I typically jump on PLAY NOW and try a few 900 coin games and some 18,000 coin games.

I have played a few tournaments but...

Should I be playing each course - all 18 holes - to practice?

    Thanks

A good place to start would be to have a look at Young46's YouTube channel. There are many excellent tutorials there.
