I took a shot and saved the replay in my list of replays from today where it appears I hit a tree and the ball came straight down.   There is no image of a tree in front of me (see replay).   Could there have been a flying bird that I accidently hit??   Please explain this to me.

There are some invisible branches here (e.g. CCC #18 on the right and also on OLY) but this one is new and apparently right in the middle of the FW.

You might send an error message from the replay screen - right click there.

if you look at camera number 4 you will see it hits a overhanging tree which is the first time ive seen it there :) other than that you need Yancy and his team of whatnots to take a look at the mysterious goings on at Oly......i am stevie2x :)

In that view it's close to the tree, but in other views and in PaulTon's pic it's straight through center FW. That would be an awfully long invisible branch!

Now, the trees all up on the Olympic Club been "paranormal probables" since day one.
Played the course many times before the US Open few years back and such. While I heard about and saw some unusuables -- it always came back to the trees.

Maybe a week or two before the actual U.S. Open at Olympic Club, Myself and MisterWGT went out and played a round on the WGT as we our other-worldly observations. The very ominous look of those trees up there was an immediate tell & whatnots. The fog-bog that sat behind the treeline was rather unusuables as well. We came to the conclusion that these trees Olympic were not simply "trees" - we had opened up the book of plant perception.
    Mostly.

Plant perception or biocommunication is the paranormable idea that trees are of the sentient, that they respond to humans in a manner that amounts to ESP, and that they experience both pain and fear. (wiki)

Plus: Trees are some of the most majestic natural organisms on the planet. They are the primary suppliers of the oxygen that all land animals need. Their power is both unknown and more scary unchecked.

I will be heading up for another gander tomorrow --- tonight I am over-nighting it inside of one of the alien green TopGolf targets (Do not tell any admins etc...Please). Thinking that this may be the best way to get close to that greasy beast - as I know it lurks around the venue after closing hours. Here are a few videos from the past on this & I got some more info tomorrow that nay change everything (allegedly).

    Yee ollde square branch

when Oly first came out Andyson (with a little prodding, very little) made a Pro Shop meme for a tree caddy aka a chain saw

Why are most people scared of chainsaws?

I just spent 10 minutes switching from Cam 3 to Cam 1, back and forth. Lining up where the ball should cross the edge of the green from both angles provides me with a possible explanation. In Cam 1 view, the Av seems to be far right of where it is viewing from Cam 3. That would mean that when WGT took photos, they didn't allow for the Av to be where it should be, left of where shown on Cam 1. So, of course, the game gets it as close as possible, which is well away from the tree.

    Did that make sense?

    Perfectly!

I noticed that difference, too, but did not pay attention to it.

One view is close to the tree, the other isn't. The closer view may cause the deflection.
