At St Andrews  #2 there is a magnet somewhere near the hole that stops putts on the lip. I can't see the magnet but can see it working on nearly every putt. You can see the gravitational pull as the ball rolls. It's uncanny.

Not a magnet. That are ants on steroids defending their hole.

Use non-ferrous balls.  Problem solved. ;-)

Aluminum, or as PaulTon prefers, al-you-min-ee-um, is not magnetic.  Nor is stainless steel so when your neighbor shows off their brandy new stainless steel refrigerator with magnets stuck all over it, you'll know. LOL :-)

Thanks for that info, Jim.  Never realized that.  In fact have a stainless and black stove. Only the top part where the controls are looks like stainless,(top of stove above burners), a magnet doesn't stick to.  Front of stove they stick, also looks stainless. Blower hood over stove supposed to be stainless they stick to also.  So Hmmmmm.

    Strange indeed.

EDIT...On that note i became curious, seems yes and no whether they will stick. Depends on the type.  Here is a read for all.

Will magnets stick on stainless steel?

But still don't think WGT has implanted magnets near the holes on the greens.
