    Hi

Was wondering if anyone more experienced players can point me in the right direction.

I am really struggling with bunker shots.

For example just 2 minutes ago I am 14 yards from hole but 5ft below the hole.

I played a half power punch shot with backspin as I normally do but am not happy with the results at all.

Are there any shots or any way I can play a shot that goes really high then down quickly?

    Any guidance most gratefully received.

    Thank you.

    Malcolm

If you're not too far away from the edge, try a pitch. Flops work, too. Only way to know is by trying. Personally, I pitch the majority of the time from greenside bunkers.

    Hi Malcolm

Even if I dont understand all that words in english now and here after my third glas of Scotch Whisky (It`s amazing, continue to destillate it, you Scottish Bravehearts!) Garys webside tips will surely help you a lot.

Second I wanna say is that expierience is unpayable. Try it all out, all those kinds of shots in any of those plenty situations, and you will have lots of fun here.

Third: A shot that goes high and then down quickly is the flop. You can also use it from bunkers. You have to give more power and aim it to the left side then, cause the ball will fly to the right side. Try out 17 flop for example for a 14 yard 30/40 bunker shot.

    Have fun and enjoy yourself,

    Friedel

My hint is that L29 Cleves don't bring top results. You may have to suffer some imperfection until you equip the perfect gear. One step ahead might be a 50 yds ATV (L40?), but only the top wedges will eventually satisfy you.

Puttlucks bunker tips will help a lot. Scotthope (I think??) made it into a nice infographic.

I hit full power with my 60 yard club. Add 10 yards to the distance and add or subtract a yard per foot of elevation. Then I take green speed into account. This usually gets me to with in three yards.

Of all who have posted on this, jeffmatulich's Sand Save stats are by far the best. I can't speak for him but he "may" share his thoughts/formula with you privately

Well as Greg Norman always used to say "This is where I just close my eyes and pray" - That is the ultimate definition of almost every bunker shot on WGT....
