I was looking at Earnings Leaders and checked some of the top-rankers' profiles to see how and what they do to accumulate that much of credits. Then I noticed something.

They are not only good, but also play tons of rounds each day! There is a guy who plays over 20, close to 30 ranked rounds a day while constantly shooting sub-30s & sub-60s in all the rounds he plays!!!

It takes me approx. 30-35 minutes to complete an 18-hole round and definitely less than 20 minutes for a 9-hole round. And I don't consider myself a slow player.

Now let's do a simple math, supposing that playing WGT became the 2nd nature for the guy, takes him only 20 minutes for a round of 18 holes, and assuming he plays 15 rounds of 18 holes and another 15 of 9 holes, which comes out to be...

    (20 min x 15 rounds) + (10 min x 15 rounds) = 450 min = 7 hours & 30 minutes

This obviously doesn't include any break or pause between rounds, not to mention that I set the playing time to insanity so it will probably take much longer than that for sure. We may, therefore, conclude that the guy spends minimum 8-10 hours a day, practically doing nothing but playing the game all day! Wow!!!

Another word comes to my mind, but let's call it a dedication...

How fast do you guys play? Honestly...

I don't take much time over my shots, just play what looks and feels right.

I reckon on about 15 minutes per 9 holes.

I don't play slow nor do I play fast...I guess you could call me a half-fast player.

I'm like MainzMan. I also play by feel and don't take a lot of time. But I will take some time to do some simple calculations on longer putts. Off the top of my head, I take, on average, about 15 minutes for 9 holes.

Pretty much same.. I'd take about 25 mins for normal 18 holes.

Quickest proper round I have played is probably 16-17 min 18 hole at par 3 course.

If you allow yourself 15 seconds a shot, and that's a long time to shoot, a 30 is going to take you about 7.5 minutes. An aggressive hour could get you 7-8 rounds so 20 or more could easily happen in under 3 hours.

Using ultra boost on all shots even on the greens saves tons of time, ball flight and rolling on greens consumes more time than you might thing......i think those players that play rg's for 8 hours a day probably use the boost,i have a life so i can only play about an hour a day,2 hours on a good day.

Only if you have lightning internet Jim.  I live in the sticks and get about 2mb/s so loading time adds a few minutes to my rounds.

    Thanks for your replies, everyone.

7.5 minutes for a 9-hole round just blew my mind!! Astonishing...

But 15 minutes seems to be a standard/average time for most and I guess I'm just a bit slower. What I still don't quite get is how you can precisely judge the putting distance & slopes and execute an accurately dinged putt within 15 seconds??!!

Maybe I'll never be able to make it since I need time to cogitate on putting lines & breaks and also carefully finger tap on smartphone & tablet screen. (Sometimes I really wish I had a mouse to simply click on.)

Well, as many say all the time, it is what it is, eh? :-)

    Cheers!

    Simon

If you're playing solo time shouldn't matter.  When playing ALT or stroke with friends 60 second shot clock should be enough.  When I first started playing I would take notes and screen shots on every single putt I had.  This could easily take 5+ minutes per green!!!!!! Hell, even to this day, if I wanna go super try hard mode on say a 1000 CR or Monthly Tier tournament I can take 80+ minutes for 18 holes (takes forever looking up putts and sorting out screen shots).

Of course, playing like this regularly would be insanity.  I'll say that 7.5 minutes seems unrealistic for 9 holes though.  When I play 15 second shot clock tournaments I usually take right around 10 minutes per 9.  But yes Simon, putting takes the longest.  It's easy enough to hit a drive in 10 seconds and an approach definitely within 30 but not always so with putts.

On average I'd say I take around 16-18 minutes per 9 holes (putts take most of my time).
