Addressed to any of the Admin team,

Given that WGT is touted as a golf 'simulation' with 'realistic physics' it seems to me to be deeply flawed by the random wind generation on each hole throughout a complete round.

For example I have just played the first 9 holes of Oakmont in a tournament and had a headwind for EVERY hole. That would equate to some very freakish local weather conditions given the way some of the parallel holes play at almost 180 degrees to each other! I believe this will result in great inconsistency when playing tournaments as another player could find the wind at their back for the same 9 holes giving a significant advantage.

I'm NOT suggesting that a constant wind direction, or speed, be applied to tournaments, I've read the arguments about people possibly using 2nd accounts to practice. But I AM suggesting that once a wind direction/speed is generated at the start of a round the overall wind direction should remain roughly constant and be applied relative to the direction of play for those 9-18 holes. In this way a player would not be penalised by a headwind on BOTH of two parallel holes playing at 180 degrees to each other as in my case above, OR benefit from two tailwinds. This would be more representative of players playing a real course but with different weather conditions on different days.

Even better if possible, would be the realism of creating 'wind mapping' for each course, taking into account variables like location, elevation data and 'wind shadowing' from trees or buildings, which would alter depending on the overall wind direction for the round.

I notice that, despite previous threads on the matter, the subject of wind realism is not on the 'Player Suggestion List' - http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/6670.aspx - could I ask that it be given some serious consideration as I feel that this would greatly improve the overall realism by removing the current wind randomness which can make scoring more of a lottery. Or if not could you please give a compelling reason as to why not?

    Regards

I very much agree Disloid!!.  Also some realism when shooting with a crosswind would help.  Many times I have adjusted my aim point for the wind and hit a perfect swing meter and the ball never even tries to go to my aim point--it takes off in the direction of the wind right off of the ground.  You can't tell me that the momentum of your shot won't overcome a crosswind for at least a third of the distance of the shot.

    just my 2 cents worth!

There's a reason it's the way it is. See this thread for more explanation. Scroll down to WGTNiv's post.
