Hi there.. besides removing the "Most Active Users" box, what was fixed during this maintenance?  Alex had mentioned they were looking at a few bugs?

I'd suggest bringing back the old 'Unanswered Threads' box too while you're at it.

Hi Snaike, we fixed a few bugs related to tier advancement. People who did not receive credits when they advanced should now have them.

I don't think the Most Active Users box was removed, but there are times when the box does not get displayed. This was happening prior to yesterday's update, too. Earlier today (after the update) the box was displayed, now it isn't. It will probably resurface again.

This should've been announced ahead of time for two reasons.

1.) This was a fix, not just a general maintenance.  Perhaps Snaike beat you guys to the punch with the thread here, but he shouldn't have had to make the thread in the first place because it should've been here yesterday.  Threads should be up before things happen, not after.

2.) Unannounced shutdowns are awesome for anyone who may have been amidst a tournament round when it happened.  Sure it would've saved where they left off, but they'd have a 5 hour break between shots with no chance to warm back up when the site was available again.  I certainly hope no one was playing the $10 PvP last night.

    Frowny face.

*edit*  Again, this is yet another call for more transparency and developer updates.  Make the community feel like we''re involved in what's going on around here instead of just being affected by it.  It kinda helps when we know what to expect on the other side of a bug fix.  Please do better with this WGT, please .

Hi nivlac, not sure if you saw this yesterday: http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/4392.aspx

Faterson, we'll look into why the Active Users box seems to appear & re-appear.

Ahem... ah,  well obviously I did not see that post or else I would not have put my foot so far in my mouth.  My apologies.

    WGTalex:
Hi nivlac, not sure if you saw this yesterday: http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/4392.aspx

One reason why Nivlac may not have noticed the announcement is that, when you posted it, you locked it, which made it not appear on the Active Topics list. I think quite a lot of people try to keep up with the latest news by watching that link, but because locked announcements never appear on that list, some users may never get to read them...

(Sending a short, 1-line, plain-text email warning to all site users, saying "Heads up, site to go down tonight at X for Z hours of maintenance, sorry for any inconvenience" might be a more effective option to warn users not to launch important tournament games prior to the update.)
