For the forth time, just as the ball is rolling toward the 18th hole, on a full course country club tournament, a message appears saying that the game has timed out and will not count. After an hour of play, thinking I had enough time, and enjoying the fact that I had a good round, this is a bit ridiculous and maddening. There ought to be a small program tweak that will prevent such an untimely time-out in the course of a club tournament, especially toward the end of it. This tweak would follow the way the drinks work, lasting to the end of a started game, though it has technically timed out.

Means...you started the tourney to late to complete it...i/e....you had 10 minutes on the clock for the 9 holes, but, you did not make it...the WGT timer let you play until the last hole, then yo snupped up.

Common, no issues, if you cannot get a tourney completed by the "end time" do not enter

You obviously did not think this one through, and your answer is careless, sorry to say. I obviously thought I had enough time, but was timed out just before the end, much to my annoyance. This type of situation is indeed a problem, and WGT, unlike you, should not shrug it off outright.

Sorry but his answer was right on. It might not be that you timed out right at the end. The problem with the time deadline is that the game lets you play the entire round until the last shot no matter when the time actually expired. No matter when your time actually expired the game lets you play the entire round until the last putt. I feel that there should be a timer showing the remaining time during the round so you know when and if your time is going to expire so if needed you can pickup your pace to be able to complete the round in the time allotted. But an easier thing to do is just make sure you have enough time to complete your round before teeing off. If you don't thin this is the case just try this once. Play a round and start with only a minute or 2 remaining on the timer. Preferably a 9 hole round so you don't waste too much time. You will see that you play the entire round until the last shot. This happens to a lot of once. but after 1 time we know what to expect and either play a little faster if the time is going to be close or not play. It is not a WGT problem. Poor time management on our part is not WGT's fault.

    East question to answer.

    Start the tournament earlier.

CC tournaments can go from 24 hours - 7 days so there is more then enough time to check out what tournaments are available & what tournaments to enter.

Sitting around to the last min waiting & watching what other players are posting does not work. If this has happen 4 times you would think you would have learned from the 1st 3 times.

My starting the tournament late has nothing to do with some dishonorable plan, which you wrongly insinuate I followed. The tournament was unlimited, and I wanted to play it one last time, but was indeed timed out on the last hole, much to my displeasure, as this ended the game prematurely, and turned it to waste. This sort of ridiculous situation is what prompted my initial post, hoping for a fix that would allow a player who is well into a tournament to finish it, even if technically this player is past the deadline by a bit.

Why some of you take pleasure in undermining this clearly reasonable suggestion is beyond me.

Note : let me remind you that I am talking about country club tournaments. I do not know if the same problem exists for regular tournaments, open to everyone.

No one is "undermining" your suggestion, just informing you of how things work.

Would it be nice to change it?  Yes.

Is it going to happen anytime soon?  Probably not.

So work within the guidelines that you have and are aware of, and your frustration factor will decrease.  Or you can continue as you have and complain about not finishing.

Regarding your note, yes, it's the same for regular tournaments as well.

Last word : you can rightfully say that, in general terms, but you are missing entirely the point I made, regarding a tournament I thought I had enough time to finish, but was mistaken by a fraction and timed out on the last hole, when the system could have been programmed to allow the impending completion of the game. Anyway, enough said. If my point is not compelling by now, it never will.

Hmmmmmm? I understand. There is a time limit. Oh well... Hate to agree with everyone but they're right.
