Have any of you 1000 posters out there figured out if the lie of the ball affects the trajectory?  I am not talking about fairway versus rough.  For example a side-hill lie with the ball below the feet would cause the ball to fly to the right.  An uphill lie would increase loft and cost distance, etc.  So far I have not really detected this, so the effect seems slight, if at all.

As long as I have been playing this game I do not think that has ever been built into the games equasion yet, just like you cannot hit a fade or draw, yes you can force a fade or draw by utilizing the winds but the option of a fade or draw has not been built in. As for determining if it the lie of the ball affects the precision circle, I have never noticed that is does. I would not count this out as a future option or effect though. IMO!

In a word Cleworthy-no. The only lies you ever see affected are those in front of obstructions, like bunker walls. The game is basically played from a flat perspective otherwise. Before my time there used to be a stance control function when the game was in its infancy but that has since been changed to the spin function on the ball. Lie factoring has been on the want list here for a long time and I still hope some day it will happen.

It would sure make St.Andrews harder.

The only times I`ve experienced anything coming close to the stance/lie affecting the ball flight have been on Oakmont, and it`s always been when the ball is on a side slope of a bunker in deep 30 or 40% rough.

These may have been "bugs" or WGT toying (testing) with the idea of including this affect .I still see this from time to time but not as much as when Oak was first released...I`ve learned to avoid being in these positions as much as I used to be when learning the course ;-).

I still have a replay on my profile page showing the worst of these. It was in my US Open round last year on #14. 92yds to the pin with a 13mph tailwind, I think I used a 115yd pitching wedge almost full power with half backspin and I left the aiming arrow directly on the pin. I dinged it and watched it squirt out to the right almost perpendicular to the line, and then it took another turn back toward the pin when it hit the fairway as if it hit a stone or something.

As I said, it may be "bugs" rather than the proper affect, but I still see these "unexpected outcomes" occasionally on Oak when it`s on the bunkers slope in the rough. I have no clue to posting a link here, just check out the replay on my profile. It`s good for a laugh if nothing else :-D

Thanks for all the responses.  I am converted EA Sports TW player and I did notice the lie effect in that game but only on pretty severe slants - maybe 15% angle or more.  You can also fade and draw the ball pretty well in that game as you may know.  So on a side-hill lie, ball below the feet, you would either hit a draw to compensate or aim to the left.  On uphill lies you would either add topspin or take more club.  It does add more realism and, of course, complexity.  Gives you one more thing to add into your considerations when figuring the shot.  Let's hope the expert programmers at WGT add this in at some point.  A 30-40% rough with a 30 degree down hill or side-hill lie would really be a challenge!  Not that I need any more challenge right now :-)
