The tourney that never ends.....where is the fun????  You can always join???  Really.....

Sorry, just not sure what the point is with this tourney......

Did you by chance see the glitch in the tiers where it showed legend and thought you would beat WGT to the punch???

    Just curious

It's supposed to emulate boxing, isn't it? Boxers compete for belts, too, on a challenger basis, and that competition never begins & never ends, running throughout the year.

It makes sense to me. Except that it should be possible for challengers to compete among themselves, too, so that you can move up the challengers list if you beat someone ahead of you on the "waiting list". (Which would make it very similar to the already existing Ladders, though. Perhaps the existing Ladders might be used, too, to help determine how high up one already is on the "waiting list"?)

That is a good point that you have reached there Faterson, and is an idea we have looked at many times. However, we are trying to avoid a ladder system as much as possible.

So, I open this question to everyone. Does anyone have an idea how the challengers could play each other without it turning into a ladder system? Any answer would be greatly welcomed.

Oh, and anyone seeing this, sign ups are still open, as they will always be.

    WGT Belt

… from the hacks to the legends, there’s a title for everyone … but only one can be crowned WGT Champion …

Ø  Sign-ups are still and always will be open for WGT Belt, so do not hesitate to put your name below this thread.

Ø  The first belt-holders are announced today. There are five tiers: Legend, Master, Pro, Amateur, and Hack. Legend Tier has a requirement of a scoring average between 57.00 and 62.99. For Master Tier, 63.00-65.99; Pro Tier, 66.00-67.99; Amateur Tier, 68.00-69.99; Hack Tier, 70.00-up. The starting belt-holders are decided by lowest scoring average per tier, and in the case of a tie, alphabetical order decided the first belt-holder.

Ø  Congratulations to shauno, the first Legend Tier belt-holder! He beat out thunderbird for the title; the two are the only players with scoring averages under 60. Australian shauno will take on American Zant in the very first Legend Tier match, while thunderbird, jakestanfill7, JonnyBau, Lobwedgex60, SkipMan20, and Luke213 wait for their first opportunities to shine.

Ø  Congratulations to plim, the top Briton in WGT Belt, who will be the first Master Tier belt-holder. Fellow Briton Gladstonescrewer barely missed out on the title, but he will take a back seat as MyNadsItch looks to dethrone newly-crowned Plim. Then badaboom, cate55, edchavez, ajey, lilrob88, rnegv, Gladstonescrewer, and TaterNater will take their shots at the new belt-holder.

Ø  Congratulations to als6437, the first Pro Tier belt-holder. His first challenger will be American Kobalt46, as jasondement, Coolswing, pigkiller, mcurran22, mfandrews, JTxpress, BigJeff65, and Serj wait in the wings.

Ø  Congratulations to Chriscrosby, the American who will be the first Amateur Tier belt-holder. JasonLuce, lilmike24, jeffdos924, Weirsy, SandyMcMandy, spinmaster, and SweetiePie will await their chances to claim the belt.

Ø  Congratulations to hammerhowe who will first defend his new Hack Tier belt against nh1977, with WhiteTee, BabyBulldog, kyan, scott13570, hackersorus, the1skelly, cobra4, WVMountaineer, Faterson, ThunderBoltz, GreenHits, and marioh next on the list to claim the title.

Ø  The order of italicized names is the new challenger list. This means that, for instance, Zant will be the first Legend Tier challenger; then thunderbird, jakestanfill7, JonnyBau, etc. Right now, those who are at the bottom of the list may have to wait a while to play their first matches, but EllisSpice and I are currently looking for ideas pertaining to extra bouts, maybe with the winners moving up the list, but without making it a ladder system. (Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!)

Ø  Matches must be scheduled between the belt-holder and the challenger, to be played within a three-day period. When a date and time have been set, the belt-holder must notify me or EllisSpice of their match, i.e. the date and time. We will then publicize the “bout” as much as we can. EllisSpice and I may ask each player a few questions for pre-match interviews as well. When the match is completed, the winner and loser must each report the score to me (gaoerfuqiu), with a few comments to how the game went and their feelings about it.

Ø  The first WGT Belt matches are between:                      shauno/Zant (Legend),                                             plim/MyNadsItch (Master),                                      als6437/Kobalt46 (Pro),                            chriscrosby/JasonLuce (Amateur),                         hammerhowe/nh1977 (Hack). Matches may begin being scheduled now, and must be completed by 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, September 5. Matches are 9-hole ranked rounds, being played on any course the belt-holder would like.

Ø  Good luck to all, hopefully no mishaps, and everybody please enjoy!

Who will handle the pressure of defending their title?

Who will take the rare opportunity to win the coveted belt?

Who will be crowned WGT Champion?

    Thank you,

    Gaoerfuqiu & ellisspice
