Downtime has been announced for the last three nights now.  I don't know about on mobile, but on PC there was a countdown clock in the game client that tells how much time is left until they shut it down.

    Here is the last announcement:

      Hi everyone,

I must apologize ahead but we will have a downtime tonight for the 3rd straight day. Approximate downtime will be about an hour. Due to the type of fix/improvements we are doing, engineers specifically asked, that everyone clears all of their cookies and temp files in both flash and browser

This is all well and good if you are in the same timezone.  However in the UK and Europe the vast majority of players are asleep at the time the announcement is made and completely unaware that there is a downtime until we log on in the morning to find that the WGT down page appears...

What you are saying is that we get up in the middle of the night to check the forum just on the off chance there is a downtime planned (Icon's update was at 02:45 GMT).  Not very realistic...

I never suggested anyone get up in the middle of the night to check for announcements.  The OP was upset because he was already playing when they took the site down.  Different things entirely.  The info is available and an announcement was made.  Could WGT do a better job of letting players know about it?  Perhaps.

I haven't played just before a downtime for quite a while.  Last time I did I remember there was a pop up countdown clock that would tell you how many minutes were left before the site went down.  That was on PC.  I don't know about mobile.  I don't know if they still do that or not.

For the last two days, they have probably been forced downtimes fixing the mess they created in the first update......so kind of understandable.

But I agree, perhaps an email to all members advising of a planned update, in addition to the current processes - including the countdown on the game client. This would be known 24 hours in advance.....why not give members as much notice as possible?

For players in Australia and NZ, this is prime time for playing, after work....so I invariably flag playing that day. But we are a minority.....

WGT is a US company, and thus we have to fit in with them....the W in WGT is a token World........just like the UK players all playing under a Union Jack.....no definition for the countries. Welcome to USGT

Not sure whats the big issue with that....

Don't know if its there in app or not, but on gameclient there are multiple pop ups usually from an hour before any downtime.

I think he is saying the pop ups would occur when he is asleep, thus he does not know until he wakes up and the :WGT is currently fixing the errors we fixed last night" screen.

What I don't understand, does this mean he would get up an hour earlier to play? Man,,,,that is dedication......I just flag it for the day.
