With PING G25 10.5° Driver (270 rated yardage)

Well adjusted for wind (at my 5 o'clock, 20-22 mph) and slope of fairway

100% power > DINGed it perfectly

29 yards instead of 270+ yards

    resulted in rough lie (30-40%)

caddy offered 3 hybrid (rated 205yds) = took it

no line adjustment, same wind - hit it 100% power a couple pixels left of ding = 196 yards

My guess is that your mouse wheel moved a bit and changed your driver to a wedge, but the graphics didn't register the change.  : (

(Now you'll tell me you play on a phablet, hehe).

    Not  a phablet (chuckles)

no mouse, with or without a wheel either

trackpad with mouse buttons on a Dell Insipron laptop

I am not saying that I have never made mistakes on the trackpad (most often putting and leaving trackpad finger too close to the pad)

also used to the flash app "stuttering" at times - that did not happen this time

I am sure that your theory did not happen - even if it did, a perfect ding would have hit the wedge a "perfect" distance

I am pretty doggone sure of my "perfect" hit = DING doesn't "ding" unless that is so - and I am positive that I could not have somehow "grabbed" the target triangle and moved it 250 yards closer to the tee box

    #3 at Pebble Beach, BTW.

I have quite some bit of experience in coding custom stuff in Macromedia (Adobe) Director.

My best "guess" is that the "values" that were received from the actions got garbled by the app - most likely the values for left or right of the DINGpoint (I can reproduce this kind of "duff" result 'on purpose' by intentionally mousing a LOT left or right of center)

Once on a Kiawah Par 3 I had selected a 4 Iron for a tee shot.  Even though it showed the selected club, the shot was played with a driver.  Turned out to be a flash issue, and clearing the usual suspects fixed it.

Interesting. and likely (you'll see my point when my other post(s) get "moderated")

Here's the problem with random, intermittent, etc. Flash issues = if you pay money to enter a tourney, you are then at the mercy of the software, not your skills (or lack thereof)

The scroll wheel will do that easily. Next club "up" from driver is your highest loft wedge. Have had it happen a few times. Gotta remember to check the club selection one last time (on the backswing).

Distance seems normal for the hybrid from the rough.

    This^^^^^^

Definitely changed club but even then 29 yards is a tad rough....if the starters lob wedge rated at 50 (I think) even with the wind at 5......should have been closer to 40-45 yards depending on spin.

So does the game take into account the tee height? A ball teed up for a driver is higher than if you did the same for a wedge....so is this why it only went 29 yards - ie slid mostly under the ball.....perhaps a task for Yancy.

btw 196 from that rough, with that wind and lie with a low level club is a sensational result......which makes me wonder
