Yeah, I could see that Dan for where you use the mouse to run around landscapes and shoot people.  Basically anything where precision and speed count for a lot.

But here as long as the button click is recognised fast enough it makes no difference.  And if there's a slight delay then your brain will quickly adjust to it.

I can see gaming mice have their place, I just don't think it's here.

Polling rate is all that matters in this game.

As long as your motherboard will support what gaming mice can throw at it, you'll notice a difference.

If you're using a deathadder and you're not seeing any difference over your 5 buck gastation beer can mouse, odds are the issue is your USB port doesn't allow anything over the usual base which is usually around 125-250.

Gaming mice do help with ergonomics, if you're playing for hours on end, nice if you're hand isn't in an awkward position most of the time.

As said above if your click registers late it may be to do with polling rate. Then a mouse with a higher polling rate can certainly help. If you don't have this problem then you can tell everyone you play with a cheap mouse. And yes you can look smugly down on those of us whose systems make us do this crap to try to get a decent game!

and if the amount of lateness is always the same then certainly you can compensate. But fthe delay is random and sometimes none at all then it's not something you can deal with really. Takes the fun out of it.

I bought a deathadder for this reason. Mac can't support Logitech. If you can get a good game with a cheap mouse then count your blessings lol

Exactly, and gaming mouses do that better than a standard mouse... your brain can't adjust because the lag time is always different, it can anticipate a problem....

The real problem is the "racing meter" that comes and goes here, your in a heap of trouble with a standard(slower) mouse, OB, lost balls, shots end up short in the water....

Like any game/sport, reaction time is a "major" factor

Dan mate, if you've tried them both and play better with the gaming mouse then of course I believe you.  I've never used one so have no info to fall back on.

Does the faster reaction time of the mouse really help with a jumpy meter though? I'd have thought finger reaction time is more critical there.  I'm not sure the difference between 8ms and 1ms mouse reaction time would have helped some of my violently shanked shots, given my finger was taking waaaaay longer to move  :  (

LOL, for years my meter didn't stutter other than the occasional shot, but lately it has been jumpy in random tournaments...and yes it does help.

The meter problem I see is the "racing meter", so fast at times lvl 61 balls are a waste of money LOL...with that reaction time is critical.

I know you are not trying to argue the point MM, I'm just putting some info out there for everyone on the subject >smile<

No worries Dan, I'm often a bit sceptical about things like this.  A manufacturer thinks they can sell a product nobody really needs for 3 or 4 times the normal price because it promises to be something special.

I'm happy to know this doesn't appear to be the case here.

I'm also surprised how reasonably priced some of these gaming mice are.  As with anything, you can pay huge sums for a small gain but there also appear to be plenty around for a smaller budget.

If you've ever played any FPS, been part of a competitive clan based league or such, you'd know that playing with a regular mouse spells doom. Gaming mice serve more than just to make faster clicks and zippy targeting. Macro's are a great feature, mapping buttons to macros functions within the game.

They offer up a huge advantage, much the same way if you play racing games how playing with a decent wheel system has massive advantages over racing against people who use a controller to drive. No comparison.

For sure, you don't have to spend 100.00 to get a nice gaming mouse, you'll often see them on sale for 60 or so, sometimes lower.

Again, for this game anyway, I'm sure most people who play this game are using a consumer type of computer, not a built gaming rig. Which means you should check the specs of it, make sure that the usb ports support variable polling, if not you're wasting money really, other than a nice fitting mouse that's comfortable.
