As far as game performance goes, what exactly does "balance" do for a putter?
As far as I know, it makes a diffference on longer putts:
Good balance keeps these longer putts on the line. Low balance doesn't.

Actually, it does make a difference on any length.
A putter with better balance simply holds and stays on the line better.
