ScottHope-the ball went to the NE.  Hard.  And your center dot is very close to where it actually was on the fairway.

Good point.  I used a ruler to set my direction and moved the marker to the left of the flag.  My first shot was a line left of the ding and the second was on the ding.  The ball just took off to the right, as if it was a shanked shot off the hossel in real golf.

Which view were you using when you moved the marker to the left of the flag?

There is a situation that can occur in this game where the aim marker can jump, from where you set it, to a completely different place.

This can happen if you cannot see the aim marker in the game window, (I'm not talking about the little triangle on the minimap), but the bigger square with the distances in it.

If the aim marker is not visible via the camera you are viewing through , and you click somewhere on the game screen where the aimer could be positioned, (not in the sky or on the minimap for example), then the aim marker will jump to where you clicked. If you do this by accident and don't notice that the aim marker has moved, then your shot will go in an unexpected direction.

I'm not saying this is what happened to you deadeye, but it is possible.

    EXAMPLE.

This happened to me in an ALtshot game a few nights ago. I set my aim on a putt in reverse and switched back to front view to putt. Ball went completely wrong and the scottie-bird in my ear said damn marker moved when I switched views LoL

If I had not read your post about this before, I would have been pissed at WGT, now I was able to laugh about it. Now I check for the marker when I return to front view.

camera view behind the player fmagnets

thanks for the info scott, could have been the issue, twice?  Same thing happened two times in a row, then I hit a punch and made the green.

As I said earlier, this is the cause of your problem. Whether you used a ruler or not, you have a giant mound in front of you in this view and the hole is out of sight behind it. If you move the marker in this view, whether you use a ruler or not, it will snap onto the obstacle in front of you - the mound. You cannot put the marker on something that is out of sight unless you use the mini-map. Even though it looked like you were aiming left of the pin, you were actually aiming at a point on that mound. If you had drawn a straight line from the ball through this point on the mound on the mini-map, you would have found it extending towards OB right of the green.

Anyone reading this can have a free lesson. Never use the camera angle behind the ball to aim when your view to the hole or the place you want to put the marker is obstructed.

You guys aren't the only ones. That's happened to me a few times. Typically, I catch it before I take my swing.

But the last few days, I've been doing all kinds of stupid stuff. Either I have the wrong club selected or I think I have it set to pitch and it's set for full swing. I've done the latter at least 3 times in the last couple of days.

And earlier tonight, I had a wedge shot to the green (~35 yards) that I should have hit very close. But as soon as I hit it, I see the ball sailing over the green and out of bounds. Clearly, that was not the club I was looking for. ;-)

I've got to do a better job of sticking to a pre-shot routine.

Thank you for the message fmagnets.  I went to the hole and played with it and lo and behold you were right.  Of course you knew that.  Lesson learned and thanks again.
