Thanks YJ, thats what i wanted to hear. As i said earlier, i was sure i had the 90ft increment on. I was thinking, wow, i never saw backspin on a putt before, lol. Now i know it could have been that spot, cheers.

I think I agree with Priestess on this one.

65ft is about 70% on the 90ft meter.  42ft is about 70% on the 60ft meter.

I set up a putt from the same general spot as in your replay.  The vertical at the 33ft mark is 21inches up.  When I check my handy-dandy cheat sheet....I see that I need to hit this putt around about 42ft to reach the 33ft mark (on "regular" tournament greens).  I hit the ball to go 42ft (70% on the 60 ft meter), and guess what?  It stopped and turned right about 33ft.

Based on that, I'd say it was probably an inadvertent meter switch.

You and Priestess are right. That isn't what both of us saw. There's a particular spot, not a general area. I've tried to replicate it, one time immediately after it happened by putting back to where I was to do it again, with no luck.

    There's a particular spot,

I have never encountered that spot before and I seem to end up around that area quite a bit. It got me good the first time. I guess I was in a hurry, about 65 out or so, looked at the flag stick and saw a 2. So I added 2 inches and fired. At first I couldn't figure out why the ball only went half way up the mound and rolled back until I looked again and now it said up 22". I felt like such as dumba$$. The other thing about that hole, at least for me is when ever the flag is up top, if I land on that slope, it always rolls back down, even without backspin. If the flag is down on the bottom, I can't get the ball to roll back to save my life, it just sticks on the slope and what a peach of a putt that leaves.

I really dislike that hole and am very happy when it's behind me.

Sorry for butting in, have a great weekend.

LOL-done that too. You see a 2 and think 2" but it's really 2 feet, which makes it 36". A slight difference in power from 67 feet to 101 feet.  :-D

*edit-Leaving the wrong math alone-sdorr's response was funny.  Duh.

Well out here on the west coast 2 feet = 24", so if you had 67 feet plus 24" that would equal 91. LOL, I know what you meant, see what happens when you get in a hurry.

Might explain why all your putts end up in the lake or backside rough though. Just kidding.

Fair enough.  Haven't encountered that spot yet....and I hope I don't.  I'm also not gonna dispute it's existence, since I've seen enough odd things on here over the years that I'll consider its existence at least plausible.  lol

Anyway, point I was trying to make was directly related to the replay, and not to that green in general, or any specific spot thereon.  In the replay the intention was to hit the putt about 70% on the 90ft meter (to go 53ft).  Since the 60ft meter is the default meter for this particular putt, my first thought was the same as Priestess's, "I bet the meter didn't get switched".

To test that theory, I set up a putt from as close as I could to the same spot, and hit 70% on the default 60 ft meter.  The result was identical to the replay.  That leads me to believe that in the case of the replay, that was probably the reason for the lack of power.

Interestingly enough....if you mistake the 2ft for 2 inches (as mentioned above), you should get almost exactly the same result, since by my reckoning a 53ft putt 2 inches uphill needs about 42 feet of power, give or take.

I find that when you spot your ball with a beer can or bottle your putting tends to improve.  How about it WGT how about some beer can / bottle ball markers.  Think of the advertising revenue.

"If I ever learn to putt on WGT, you are all in big trouble."

    This.

I often have rounds where I hit every green and fairway, average under 20' to the hole, and shoot -2 or higher.

While having a 2' average for finishing putts usually indicates a lot of two or three putts, it could be the sign of someone who is really, really good on approaches?  I would be the former.

    madden0001:

Rather than blame the lag today (it was awful this evening), I thought I would share some levity.  Since I've had a good run at Ready Go's already today, I can let it slide.

9 holes at Kiawah and my total putt made distance was 18.2 feet.  Yes, my average putt distance made was 2 feet.  That's a sign of a quality putting round.  *sigh*.  -1 35 for me.  Hopefully, I can at least get 30 or 40 cents back from my dollar.

I know how you feel ... Thats me every day :(
