It doesn't take much to see that other than a minuscule change in meter speed, the new Callaway Fusion drivers and woods, Steelhead irons, and TaylorMade Red Spider putters are direct replacement for the corresponding Nike clubs.

Now, it was a breath of fresh air to see the Nike clubs drop 5 levels before they disappeared. However, some of us were a tad short of reaching levels that enabled us to buy clubs at what were level 96, 97 or higher.

At level 92 I now face about a year wait to buy the Callaway irons that would now be in my bag if Nikes were still around. I'll be an old man before the other clubs I want are within my grasp. I think WGT would sell a lot of clubs if they reduced the requirements for those higher level clubs like they did the Nikes.

Perhaps a few players who already own these clubs might be a bit perturbed if the new clubs were easier to reach, as they may have been when the Nikes were lowered 5 levels. Maybe if the Nikes weren't made more accessible before their demise, level 97 might not seem as distant. But they did, and now level 97 seems like a long road ahead with the long duration of those 5 levels.

So I urge others in my position to plead with WGT to drop the requirements of the new clubs the way they did the Nikes. I suspect it will make more people happy than it might bother.

I understand what you say, but I am not sure if in the long term they would sell more clubs.

The reason is many players yearn for new clubs, if clubs were at level 92 the probably would skip the upgrade at level 90......(as an example).

Personally, upon hitting legend, it should be open slather to purchase what you want, but again that would kill the business model.

WGT primarily make money on ball sales, not club sales, so forcing players to grind away another 5 levels is part of the plan. Yes as a result some players get despondent and play less or leave, but as the business plan works, I can't see a change forthcoming.

It is like the clashes, as flawed as the system is, whilst players continue to play them, it will not change.

I would love to sit on a WGT marketing planning meeting.....as they all gaze into empty space

Edit @ Fairground - easier for those playing daily, nearly impossible for those like me who do not.

You are right some players would be ticked off . Especially those who put their time in and earned them at the regular levels which they are now . They had to wait to reach the required levels and they did it under the old xp system .  Yeah L92 is a long way from L97 I will admit that its quite the grind . By the time you get there who knows what new gear will be in the pro shop .

At the same time why shouldnt you have to play like every one else ? You clearly didnt have the points then so the special offer wasnt for you anyway . WGT will make money leaving them where they are . The ball sales will generate more money from those playing to reach those levels as well as from the actual club sale its self . A nice double whammy for WGT all the way across the board .

So put your time in and grind it out . It wont be long before you are there , Time flies when you`re having fun ..

    You age quickly.

And what situation would that be? People who already have really good clubs and simply want to chase clubs that are a little bit better even though they probably aren't using their current clubs to their fullest?

While there's no shortage of individuals in that situation, no way WGT will make a change based on their pleading.

This is not a criticism crazyhorse, but especially as you are moderated (and therefore a time delay from posting to your post actually showing up), it is a good idea to quote someone so they know who it is you are agreeing with.

    And welcome to the forums.

Personally I would have rather you said  Neigh......then I could call you a crazy horse legitimately.

I'm In the same boat as you In that I missed out on the Level 92 (97) Nike Iron's by about a week XP wise, was a bridge too far but I'm managing with what I have.

Just a guess but I would not be surprised If a different set of irons between L 92 & L 97 became available long before we get near L 97.

Plus be careful what you wish for, Like me, you probably know your present Iron's like the back of your hand but If we were to get a higher Level set with the extra spin then there's the one step backwards before we take the two steps forward as we have to adjust to the extra spin, "more power, less spin", "Damn my old Iron's wouldn't back up off the green like that" etc, etc

Well, more to the point. if people generally are going to play club tournaments that have appear to have rather easy setups, where's the need for better clubs? I'm not criticizing. I'm just suggesting that the person has no need for better clubs because the clubs they currently have are more than adequate to play those courses.
