If someone gives 4 holes ... and after 14, that person is up by 4; the WGT game will allow a 15th hole to be played. BUT, in the TZL terms, the match would be tied.
Then, say the 15th hole is tied, or the giving person wins it. The WGT game would be over either 4 and 3 or 5 and 3. But, in TZL terms it would be even, or 1 up with 3 more holes to play. If the receiving person wins and is 1 up (5 to 4), there are still the 3 holes left where the giving person can turn this into a win. The WGT game would allow continued play ... still Dormie, giving player up 3 with 3 to play. But, if the giving player wins or their is a tie, the WGT game would end.
Either player can still win the match in the next 3 ... unplayed holes. This penalizes both players.
Am I looking at this wrong??
In my mind, the match round is 18 holes of play, unless a player is up by more than the number of holes left to play. If this be true, and we play this game on the WGT gaming field, the only possible handicap that could work is 1. And, if there is a tie after 18 ..its a tie.
If the 1 handicap be the only fit, then match play games can only be with players of equal or 1 tier difference, to be fair.
