    tiffer67:

I try to hit the ding in the majority of the shots I play, obviously hitting it usually means a good shot, assuming you have a grasp of how to judge distance and play the wind.

That said, I think a lot of players place too much emphasis on hitting it, as a judge of how well they are playing. As long as you are near to it, the resultant shot can still be fine and sometimes very good also.

For me it is far more important to ding your putts, assuming you play to ding them. That is always the difference between a very good round, decent or average. The number of holed 10 to 25 feet putts makes or breaks a round.

    Well said.

On STA with side winds I play the meter and arrow against the wind to keep the ball somewhat straight (or try too).

If I tried to ding every shot, excluding putts,  I guess I would be about 20%. But like tiffer says even if you miss just ever so slightly it really doesn't hurt a thing. I've had many dinged shots turn out worse than non dinged, that's for sure.

I believe I hit it about 10-20% of my shots, due to this freaking lag

Even though I use the R11 driver, and callaways most of the times, and even without spikes or freezes. I would say about 2 out of 10 shots most of the time. Its just way too fast for me. I often click when I'm near the outer bars on the ding because of this. I know there are players who can hit it regularly, so they have an small advantage straight away. I would love to see a driver that has a much slower swing speed for us mere mortals who struggle with this. Not for everyone, I know. But for those who are happy with a faster swing meter, then this would not be a problem for them, and they wouldn't need to go buy another driver. Just a thought.
