I went back to the May Open at St. Andrews and had the notice that I was no longer eligible for this tournament because I had withdrawn.

I did not withdraw.  I clicked on Tee Off and realized that I was playing with either a WGT ball or a starter ball.  I had Callaways in my bag and wanted to put one of them in play.  I could not figure out how to get back to the screen where you can change equipment so after trying a couple of ways, I closed the screen and reopened to the main menu.

There should be a way to change balls without having to close the game.  I was using a Callaway in a round yesterday and the ball was taken out of play.  It was replaced with a starter ball even though I had several WGT balls in the bag.  Why would it not use the better ball in this case?

There may be a way to change equipment while a game is in progress but if there is I don't know how to do it.

The disqualification was unwarranted in my opinion.

Go to search bar over there -------------------------------->

    Type in "One Ball Rule"

    Hi

I am not sure what can be done but you could email members@worldgolftour.com and see what they say.

Sorry man, you are out of luck . There is no way they can reinstate the tournament. Once you withdraw it's over. Believe me because I had the same issue twice.  There will be many more,  so shake it off and be more prepared for the next one.

    Thanks for your comments.

On 5/1 I posted an Appeal of Disqualifiation and got replys that were in some cases supportive and I appreciate them.

No one addressed the last part of the post about the Callaway ball being taken out of play and a starter ball being put in play when I had WGT balls in my bag.

It happened again tonight.  Playing the Bethpage Black, one play tournament, I am 2 over on No. 15 when my Callaway was taken out of play.  It was replaced with a starter ball.  I had 7 WGT G13's in the bag.  Why would anyone in their right mind program a game in that manner.  The meter changed, the distances change and the whole game is different.  I learned the hard way that trying to correct a programmers lack of knowledge of the game results in severe punishment.

I finished the game at 5 over which is not bad for an old 80 year old but I believe that I would have finished 3 strokes better without the ball change. Unfortunately I am not permitted to play another round in that tournament.

This is a bug that needs fixing.  Replace an out of play ball with the best ball in the bag!

Maybe you missed it...The "ONE BALL CONDITION"  aka  "ONE BALL RULE" IS applied here at wgt. Here are a few links that hopefully explains this better for you

Did you take 5 mins to read any topic from the search tap.. looks like you did not.

That would not have got you far in the tournament. Your responabilty to have more types of the ball in your bag before you start the tournament. not wgt fault. If you started with wgt balls well it would have been replaced with a wgt ball durrr.

    I did not withdraw.

Just to clarify for you (because I saw no mention of it in the above posts) in order to leave a single play game, the option is "save and quit" which just allows you to take a break, etc, or "withdraw from game/tournament".

Now if you did a "save and quit", the game back to the game client, you have two options:

    "resume tournament" or

    "forfeit game"

So, in reality, whether you wanted to or not, you had to have clicked on the "withdraw" or "forfeit" option.

It's not just the one-ball rule affecting the OP, it is also that in general you cannot change equipment once you start a tournament round. In his case, he started with the wrong ball (not the ball he wanted to play). So you are just stuck with it. (If you chose the right ball but are about to run out, you can buy more during the round before they run out.)

The same thing can happen with clubs, e.g. teeing off without a driver because you were just playing a CTTH game.

I have done the same thing myself. Lesson learned.

You simply have to double-check the equipment before you tee off - especially if it is a single-play tournament.

I think starting without a driver is a very common mistake people make after CTTH I also tend to play those with different balls as well.

Maybe a warning should flash up stating "you are about to tee off with no driver" etc or you are on the last of your current ball?
