WGT, why do you throw away one of your biggest assets? (Image quality)

As I understand it you take a lot of high quality photos when you create a new course for WGT. Unfortunately we don't see any of those high quality photos because in the last step of your processing you throw away almost all of the image information you had by applying an insane amount of image compression.

The result is that instead of seeing my golf course as a series of high quality photos I get very poor resolution photos because all the pixels you actually show are wrong and together produce a seriously flawed photo.

A closer look shows a remarkable lack of any details. In the Flash version of the game you see the typical square block artefacts of overdone jpg compression in all of the grass areas. And very visible artefacts on the earth to sky border. And lots of twigs and leaves that hover above the trees they should be attached to. The artefacts of the mobile version are far less noticeable. But if you look for details you find even less of them than in the Flash version . It looks as if you applied a blur filter to your images.

In my opinion the amount of compression you choose is a serious error of judgement. In discussions about the issue you don´t hear much complaints. I think that is because you customer base now consists mostly of the people who are not bothered by the poor image quality you use. The others abandon the game after playing for a few minutes to a few days and you never get a chance to recruit them as long term customers. I suspect the amount of revenue you loose that way is far more than the additional cost of serving images of a reasonable quality.

I never managed to convince a friend or relative to try or if they actually tried it to keep playing the game. I am sure I would have more luck if you actually offered good image quality in your game.

In my opinion it would make even more sense if you offered the option to download a full set of high quality photos that if available on my computer would replace the poor excuse for photos you currently use.
