I tried to play qualifier at erin hills. I would have shot a 63.. The delay was TERRIBLE

    Don't spread misinformation...

    Thought the consensus was...

What works for one, doesn't work for all ?

Now do us all a favour AB..

    and fook off !!!

    Andy

    Andy,

A crappy wireless mouse works better for no one. It does work, but it doesn't work better. If you want to go spread around false rumours fine, but keep the nonsense out of here.

Bite with no usefull info or facts is a typical response with one who doesn't have a whole lot going on upstairs

You gonna arguing now that people dont know what a smooth meter is?

I have a Imac,MacMini and 3 macbook pro's and the the meter is flawless 95% of the time.No stutter or run on  my machines.

No, I "hate" when false information is spewed from those who think they know what they're talking about but don't. Frankly this is a lot of people. If that offends you all then fine. I don't suger coat and it's upsetting when I have put so much effort to help just to get people spewing their own uninformed opinion which ends up detracting from the work I put in. Or worse they call you names without adding a single cent to discussion.

A smooth meter doesn't mean it's a good meter. If it's smooth but when you click, it doesn't react consistently, this is not a good meter.

tigerpaw, If this is not the case for you then I'm actually happy. I'm trying to help people. I doubt however you're using the mac wireless mouse though if your results are as good as you say.

If you haven't tried anything better though, say you have an inconsistent jerky meter then having an inconsistent smooth meter will seem infinitely better. Given that persons lack of perspective though makes it seem like it's way better than it is, but in actuality it isn't really that much better compared to a high quality mouse and a good high refresh rate monitor

As evidenced. I shot a 54 in qualifiers and on this good imac at work but lacking in good perepherals (wireless Imouse) I was approaching a 64 on an easy course! That's 10 strokes!

If you don't want to take advice fine, but don't take away from the work I put in. I don't actually care about my opinion although it may seem it. I am geniunely trying to help people.

Polling rates are irrelevant as this is for mouse position, ie location. When you click, it is a direct input from mouse to computer. If your wireless mouse becomes inconsistent, change the battery. Meter slide bys are a computer function, if the mouse is working properly. Flash can become a memory hog, so restart computer when your resources are getting insufficient headroom. Clear your caches. Run only game client when playing.

    That's it.

    Polling Rate Explained

A mouse’s polling rate is how often it reports its position to a computer. Polling rate is measured in Hz. If a mouse has a 125 Hz polling rate, it’s reporting its position to the computer 125 times every second. In other words, 125 Hz polling rate means the mouse is reporting its position to the computer every 8 milliseconds. A 500 Hz rate would mean that the mouse is reporting its position to the computer every 2 milliseconds.

A mouse that officially supports a higher polling rate will generally allow you to select a polling rate in its control panel. Some mice may have hardware switches to adjust their polling rate on the fly, too.

A higher polling rate could decrease the lag that occurs between when you move your mouse and when the movement shows up on your screen. On the other hand, a higher polling rate will use more CPU resources as the CPU has to query the mouse for its position more often.

A good tip to check your mouse quality is to

play any other game and put it to the test.

I don't just play one golf game, and I have no problems w/ another one where the meter (3 click) is MUCH faster and more challenging and I see I have no 'late issues' or differences in clicking registers.

If there was an issue on all these games I'd be the first to know.  I was a professional button pusher for LIVE television (technical director) and the sony DVS 9000 has a lot of buttons, and quick timing was crucial. If my mouse is not good enough, I'd replace it for sure.

But I'm cool with it. My RAM sucks and that will be upgraded soon.

(note: I haven't disagreed, and I've saved info from this thread for future reference)

    thanks, all
