    YankeeJim:

Yes, my 63 guess looks a little high. I can also see what's coming for the Championship-just like last year-High wind and Champ greens that nobody gets to practice on ahead of time.  Oh boy.....  :-)

sounds a lot fairer to me.

Here's how I sum up Congressional:

    1st hole - 3 birds and 1 par in first 4 tries.

1st hole at Oakmont - 1 bird, a few pars, a lot of bogies, and a whole lot of doubles, triples, and others that I do not know the names for.

Congressional is great!  I love playing this challenging but fair setup.

Alot of fun to play, some tough shots, think about where to place your teeshot.

Shot -2 and -3 first two rounds, -10 and -8 next two, takes some time to get used to the elevated greens, luckily you can roll those upp the on most holes.

High Wind that course is going to be a monster!

Unbelievable job WGT this course is a true thing of beauty and #18 goes without saying as the best hole in this game by far!

When will the course be renamed, Bolloxin's course?  It's only the 1st day, is 49 or 50 just around the corner?

Might as well cancel the open and give bollox the prize now. (:

but the open at R.St George's should be fun, the greens look amazing & tough

Erm, there's a guy leaving for St. Andrews next week on WGT's dime that might have something to say about that.

    Just sayin'

    Further thoughts:

At time of writing, 156th place is 7 under (64), which means one more sub 64 and the highest qualifying score will be -8 (63). The -8 scores currently occupy 109th to 155th places, which means 48 more sub 63s and my 8 under will no longer be good enough. (used the Srixon Z star for this round, doesn't go as far as Callys, but perfectly acceptable)

My earlier formula for the cut is incorrect as I did not account for the variable that is the brilliance of the sub 60 shooters (including B. In B. - only 2nd - must try harder).

Also it's only day 2 of qualifying.

Also last year we didn't have the calloways to help, so revised cut IMHO will be

    62 (-9)

Or to put it in a formula

My best score - 1 (boo hoo)

As mentioned in an earlier post, there is very little run in the fairways, and flop shots are not going as far as on other courses from 30% - 40% rough and sand.

I'll bet a sleeve of Calloways that the cut is at 60 or better.  I just put up a 62 while playing the last 6 holes with starter balls, and I'm not one of the uber-legends of this game.  Scores on this course are going to be very low, especially with low wind conditions, and we've got weeks to go.

I'm also guessing that there are not only more players on WGT than there were a year ago, but that there are also a lot more skilled players than there were a year ago.

After a week or 2, I'm guessing the cut will be at or around 61.  After that, it should stay the same, and the challenge to make the cut begins :)
