I do have to disagree with the person who said the front was easier.  I made the turn at -1 and shot -3 the back 9.

Agreed, +3 on the front for me, -3 on the back on my first go around. Front has much harder greens, and the traps are death defying. Nowhere near as much trouble on the back.

I disagree. 1st time out i was -6 for the front 9 and just when i thought this is easy, the course bites back and i was +1 for the back 9 to finish -5

First and only attempt I shot a 71...lol, with 2 bogeys and a double bogey on the 18th..came up short on 3 easy birdie putts. So that's at least 7 shots better I could've had.

So I think the cut will be very low.. easy wind conditions and if you stay on the short stuff (easier said than done) there will be alot of low scores shot on it.

Very nice course..the greens are very manageable, unlike Oakmont which can be horrid on the greens.

    Cheers

Played it a few times now and love it. Best so far is a 64 with a g12d ball...Great course for bending drives and wind riding. Gonna wait till I know it better then break out the callaways. Top job WGT

Nice course, best score so far is +2. My problem is reading the greens, as the speeds seem more like Very Fast, rather than the Tournament we are used to ?

Jim, have a peek at my setup (only changed the irons)  I'm still liking the spacing with the Punch of the PW coming in at 108 yards to fill the gap from 100-125..... and I still have the 64 Degree in the bag.

Ya I considered that but what bothered me was that gap you're covering with the punch. 110 -115 coverage bothers me. From what I've learned using the 2 lower CGs I very much like the way the landing is very controllable and the way they handle choking down-very predictable. The CG115 fits right nice there (for now.)

I also like the way the CGs punch so my plan is to see what kind of revamp of the short game I need without the 64 degree first. So far, at CCC, the way the sand and rough is, it looks like it won't be a huge problem. Maybe not as easy as with the 64w but definitely fun to try.

A major plus with these irons is that little 1/2 dot extra in forgiveness. Swings missing by a pixel or 2, sometimes more, don't deviate as wildly as the i15s did. This helps with the fast meter which, incidentally, is like Icon said-a bit slower than the i15s.

    LOL @ JaLaBar  :-D

JIm try removing your 3 wood  then adding the 64 back in..a 3 iron with top spin can net you 240 or better.

I did, mentioned it in the other thread but you know what's odd?-I haven't used the 115CG yet!! LOL-going ALee's way at CCC but will definitely be doing that at the other courses.

I have played the qualifier 5 times so far. With scores ranging from a +5 76 the first time around to a - 7 64 the last time. The 64 was so frustrating. I played the best round yet on the front side.  A -7 29 with 5 birdies and an eagle on # 6.  I  birdied the first 2 holes on the backside to go -9. I played a bogey free round until # 17 making several testy medium length par putts to stay at -9. Then I guess I let my nerves get the better of me and I clicked way too late on my drive on # 17 putting my ball in the deep rough under the trees leaving  me with no shot at the green and having to hit a punch shot back to the fairway.I hit it a little long into the rough on the left side of the fairway . I hit a decent wedge to the green to about 9 feet from the hole and my par putt came up about 2 inches too short so I bogeyed 17. On # 18  I hit a good drive and not wanting to flirt with the water on the left side I aimed well right of the hole. A good shot would have put me on the green with a fairly simple 2 putt par and I would have had a 63 to make the field. I clicked late for only the second time the entire round and put my ball in the deep rough to the right side of the green. I hit a pitch with my Cleveland 60 degree and misjudged the distance needed to get close to the hole and ended up 15 feet past the pin. Played a very good putt that slid past the hole by about a foot. No bogeys for the first 16 holes then bogeyed the last 2 to miss the cut line by one stroke. Hopefully I will put together another great round like that and not blow it on the last few holes.

A classic case of nerves when you start thinking " just par out and I'm there."  Been there too many times and still louse it up.   :-(

Posted? Maybe posted, but not played by the rules. The word is out and too bad WGT hasn't figured out the vocabulary. Maybe they should just stop giving out prizes and let everyone play for fun. Where would they go then?

These greens are frustrating me more than Oakmont; at least there I expect to be two- and three-putting all day long, but here I'll be five or six feet out to the side, line it up, and hit it to within an inch only to see it slide right by and go on another five feet because of these damn slopes. It's cost me at least four strokes a round and I've still yet to break even par. I've been playing this game for two years and I'm now more frustrated *and* determined than ever before (and will be buying Callaways for the foreseeable future, so, congrats WGT).
