    Hi experts,

I'm relatively new. Will there be any specials during the U.S. open? I'm needing a full upgrade. I have a decent driver and putter I purchased in the beginning. I'm level 39. Prefer a slower meter. Thank you all.

There might be a free rental weekend in conjunction with the U.S. Open and Father's Day. But I don't think there be any other specials.

I'm afraid that you are not yet L39 but L37 (not a big difference) and you have rented but haven't bought any driver yet (good outcome).

Alas, you have a few free slots in your bag. You might want to re-equip the Starter driver + the Cobra 3WD which you bought.

    Some proposals for purchase:

    - two short wedges, L39 ATV or L18 Pings.

    - R11 3WD ( L30) as a driver replacement - or wait for L48 @49,000 XPs.

The hardest thing about this game is being able to wait. If you play every day, the WGT has made level progression so much faster than it once was, but you are still waiting to get to the higher levels where the better clubs exist.

Try to resist making purchases until you are level 40 or higher. Also remember that you are not changing tees again until you are a master. By careful choice you can find a driver that will carry you from pro to tour master at 40 or above. The TaylorMade R15 at 40 might be a good choice.

Any number of wedges can take you from pro to champion if you learn how to use them. I would just suggest that you eventually get 3 that are matched so that the yardage gaps are about the same.

An iron set with a 3i specking at 210 or more won't be available until the low 50's so know that you will need new irons sometime as a master or tour master.

The lower levels are the time to be learning shots and greens and not about making early purchases. These are all ideas based on an average wealth or lack there of. It might also be a time to earn "free" credits. If you have lots of money to throw at an internet game, spend now and spend later as well.

One note on the better clubs.  In RL a forged blade iron is a powerful tool in the hand of a trained golf pro, but a lot of work is needed to master it.  The same is true for the better clubs at the highest levels.

Don't pick up the very accurate, highly forgiving club and expect to be knocking pins dead in a few rounds.  That club also comes with higher spin, which means more wind effect, and quite possibly, backing the ball off the front of the green...

Case in point: I'm working through a putter change right now.  The new putter tracks the intended line like it's on rails, which is quite helpful on highly arched putts.  However, I'm finding putts that used to drop in on the high side, now graze the hole on the way by.  Back off little power, and the ball might go in, or it might stop short.

    Cheers, --Berto

I see you are at level 49 now.

If you want to help yourself in the long run, may I suggest you get the L55 Taylormade Driver. That club can just about keep up with Dirvers in the level 80s; I still use it as a L87 Legend. Compared to the L79, 83, and 86, and 89 drivers it comes up about 7 yds short in tailwinds and 2yds short in headwinds.

    The L55 M1 is a real luxury.
