A real and true boycott ?, a tea party perhaps?, a running for the hills to a new game? . Do the WGT champions and tour legends who buy balls and clubs every time they come out have the balls to cut WGT off for a given amount of time for the benefit of all WGT players?Even those who have not joined WGT yet..?

I would say that the answer to these questions are NO, But if there was a site wide and CC wide realization that the WGT players as a whole actually have a lot of power at this moment in time then maybe something could get done before it is too late....

Use the leverage you have as a PC and Mobile golf game consumer at this time to force WGT to improve the security of fair play, fix game play bugs/inconsistencies/drop outs/ other general game related mishaps/ in order to make YOUR and the players you play with get the most out of the WGT experience....

If wgt owners/management cared, your suggested actions would not be necessary.  Since it is evident by past practices that they do not care enough, your suggestions carry no threat to wgt, hence, no action on their part.  my nickle..

    Mcduff61:
A real and true boycott ?

    Never going to happen.

    Mcduff61:
a running for the hills to a new game?

Nothing on the horizon. There was a lot of excitement when PP was in development and quite a few players on here posting about how much better it was going to be and how happy they were that WGT finally had some competition and as soon as PP was ready they'd be leaving and... Well, PP was not it. Those players are back here because quite frankly there's nothing else quite like WGT out there..

    Mcduff61:

Slightly insulting to suggest those who don't decide to cut WGT off don't have the balls to do it. Perhaps the majority are just happier with the game than you are.

    Mcduff61:

This is false altruism and sounds ridiculous. You're suggesting the top players should boycott WGT to force improvements for the sake of (amongst others) theoretical people out there who never played WGT but who just might, one day?

    Mcduff61:

I would say that practically everyone who reads this will agree with you there.

Again, never going to happen. The forums are used by only a fraction of the registered players, even the active ones. Just looking at the leaderboard for the Virtual Tour events shows a bunch of names at or near the top that I have never seen post in the forums in all these years. There are also a fair few that aren't even in a CC. The forum, interesting, helpful, informative and frustrating as it can be, does not represent or speak for the majority of players on WGT, just a vocal minority.

Don't get me wrong, I applaud you for wanting to try something to get improvements in the game, that's fair enough. But a boycott has been suggested many, many times before and it has never gained any traction. Personally I don't think it ever will or even should. I think a boycott would end up being counter-productive, but as I said it'll never happen anyway.

I simply have not found a better golf game to play, really enjoy it. The fact they allow people to play for free indefinitely is kind of mind boggling. Just played a real game yesterday, 89.00, lost 2 balls & 4 drinks& it was an hour drive one way to play. This game is pretty reasonable for the enjoyment you get out of it. My only wish would be they bring in some more courses. If licences is the main problem, then add some virtual courses , by now they should have an idea on how to make there own.

    Dennis,

    +1 to your post.

I think the masses would love it if the WGT devs actually created virtual courses for us to play, but thinking WGT knows how to do that is going out on a limb..  I doubt if 5% of WGT/TopGolf employees have ever played a round of RL golf except for Putt Putt.

I'll be the first one to say that I love this game because I get to play courses I've watched in so many professional events through the years that I'll probably never get to play in RL.  I think WGT has tried to give us options with the course builders/custom courses but that's not what we need.  We definitely could use some additional variety like that provided in the newly released The Golf Club 2.  The Golf Club 2 lacks RL courses and that's why I didn't pull the trigger.  I'm not sure how much effort it takes to film a course and then get it into production but based on VUSO releases it appears to be extremely time consuming.  Can that processed be streamlined?  Again, I don't know, but if it could, then I think even releasing local, public courses would be great for the game.  Those contract fees would be minimal and we'd have more variety.

I've watched virtual golfers play the virtual courses on TGC2 and it didn't get me overly excited.  I think the RL courses are what  draws people to WGT.  Even with the flaws the game experience recreates going out to a RL course better than any other game I've played.  The other golf game options make me feel like I'm playing a cartoon version.  I've never enjoyed those cartoon gaming experiences.  WGT is more true-to-life than anything else I've played with the exception of the unrealistic scoring.  To me breaking par should be difficult.  On here breaking par is a poor round.  You have to shatter par in order to feel good...and that's f'd up.

    Keep swinging 'em for us!

    Paul
