  Just how much bulls__t do we have to believe about the consistency of this game.

  I just played the first 3 holes 3 under,get to the 4th 4mph left to right,pinged the drive and straight it to the tree. Now i have played the hole Often ( to often) and a pinged drive will miss the tree every time,what gives???

  I hit that tree many times. So, now, under certain winds I hit 3wood. Or push it or pull, depending on wind. Try different shots and experiment - that's why qualifier is so long instead of 3 days.

  Your theory is sound,but as i ask , what changed?? did the tree grow,the shot was perfect as i have done many times

  ( till it hit the tree)

  Is there a randomness built into the "tree"?  After all, trees are mostly but not all air.

   full backspin on the tee shot will get you over the trees

  i missed that tree for the first three days no problem, then I read a thread about how "difficult" it is... now i hit it EVERY time!  lol... nice work brain!

  The tree is not random, but it's the end user.. I may hit (what it looks like to me) 2 identical shots but the way they actually fly, if you were to really breakdown via math, it would be drastically different.

  We are talking about maybe 2 shots  traveling 5% of the same line while looking to be identical. That's why, when someone says, I hit same shot last game and it went through, it really means nothing to computer that calculates shots based on predefined values

  Try this. Aim well into the right rough and click on the left edge of the forgiveness bar. You get a very nice mishit simulated draw that lands in the middle of the fairway going no where near that tree,  I have only hit that tree once playing the normal shot. But in the last round I played I was just trying some different things trying to stimulate my game to try to make the cut line. And that new way to play #4 worked very well. With high winds blowing left to right it might not work as well but with the low winds we have in the qualifier it works very well.

  I have yet to hit the tree.  I use an R11 driver.  In an alt shot game with high wind from left to right I did have to use a 3 wood.  It is pretty easy to see the branch that you can't hit from the Legend tees.

  The one time I hit it I had a brain dead moment and clicked way too soon and drilled it straight into the tallest part of the tree. With full backspin with the R11 and a decent shot you can make it over that tree easily. At least from the tees that are being used for the open . I have no idea about the other tees. That tree might not even come into play from them. Or it might be so much closer that a 3 wood would be the only way to make it over.

  In my last round I was just trying some very different shots to get myself out of the sort of funk I have been in lately.Since last Saturday when I blew my shot at making the cut by bogeying the last 2 holes I have played very poorly. Not hitting good shots and when I do hit a good shot I'm not able to take advantage of it because my putting this week has been awful.
