lonniescott711: Depends on how you miss the ding when putting . Do you leave the marker in the default position and miss the ding when putting ? If so then yes you have to miss more . But if you move the marker to change the line of the putt then the miss is not as much .
I leave the marker alone, except for a few silly breaks, but even then I move it (guesstimate) just enough to click at the side marker on the meter. I have no idea how to putt by moving the marker, started aiming by missing the ding my 1st week here and never changed, cause it worked well ;-)
But the forgiveness will always affect the starting line of the putt on a missed ding, no matter how you putt, not sure why it would affect it less, if one moves the marker?
lonniescott711: What you are referring to is not the foregiveness but the balance of the club. The balance of the club is what helps the ball hold its line especially on longer putts
The balance affects putts in their latter stages, not their starting line. And it's not the reason why 2 putts from 6 feet with a small break (clicked around 20% of the "ding/side marker distance" from the ding, clicked at the same spot, would end up on opposite sides of the cup. Cause that's the difference between my Ghost and any putter with the forgiveness level of 4 or more.
