Time to upgrade ......

  Had a bit of a shock the other day, when i tiered up to Master, and suddenly find myself a long way back on the tee. Something tells me it's time to upgrade the sticks!

   

  So, a question for those tha have already gone through this watershed moment .... which clubs should I go for?

   

  I'm currently on L47, and carrying a bag full of the entry level Raptures from Driver through to PW, with some rubbish wedges.

   

  Having looked through what's available to me in the Pro Shop, a few options do stand out. First of all, I'm going to need to bump up a level so I can get the L48 Rapture V2 irons, combined with a 56 and 60° Clevelands, as it seems to me that nothing else will get me the same performance and distance until I'm a lot further up the ladder. Unless anybody else knows better?

   

  The real quandary seems to be with regards to the woods and hybrid though. Do I go with the L47 Raptures, or go for the higher flight of the R11s? Would the change in swing speed between woods and irons prove to be a problem?

   

  There's also the possibility of ditching the hybrid completely and replacing it with a 64° ZSatin. A wise move?

  I went with the Ping set, the irons go higher the woods r pretty good too the wedges aren't the best but they're pretty good, but defiantly go with the G 10's.

  I upgraded to the R9 for the extra distance and my fairways percentage is really suffering. I picked  up a longer Pin 3w (230) which i use off the tee on short or tight holes. Ditch the hybrid and use "punch" shots out of rough. 

  May 22, 2011 Tonight the jerkiness and meter bite have made the game unplayable. Anyone else?

  No the meter is as smooth as silk tonight just like always. But I never play without gamebooster 2 activated. It really helps giving you a much smoother meter and helps make the game load faster as well.

  Hi Beatle

  I would go for

  R9 TP9.5 Driver

  Tour Burner 3 Fairway Wood

  G10 Iron Set (Steel) L35+

  Ping Tour W 64 Wedge

  Ping Tour W 58 Wedge

  Ping Tour W 52 Wedge

  Redwood ZB Putter and upgrade to Daytona asap. To start with you may want to up your balls(as the actress said to the bishop) to GI3-S to help with the faster meter but the above set up gives you decent clubs with the irons,driver,and  fairway all the same speed, helps with timing. Hope this helps and doesn,t send you into debt!!!!

  If I may, I'd just like to clear up a couple of things on those choices .......
  
  Is there that much difference in swing speed between the Tour Burners and the R11s? In the Pro Shop the difference appears to be very small indeed, although I'm willing to believe the stats shown aren't always going to be 100%.
  
  Again, with the irons, the G10s appear to have the same swing speed as the Tour Burners, but worse stats, with the TBs allowing a little more forgiveness and spin. What would be the reasons to go for the G10s instead? I know that the higher level versions definitely have a higher flight, but do the lower level G10s also have that advantage over the Burners?
  
  Lastly, with the wedges. The Z-Satin wedges look to have the same swing speed, but some extra spin and forgiveness. Does the half dot of precision make it worth sticking with Ping, or is this a case of managing the gaps in distances between the clubs?
  
  For that matter, I'd also be interested in your reasoning for steering away from the Clevelends. There's not much between them, but I guess I'm perhaps not totally understanding just which stats are most important for different clubs.

  The G10's have always been better clubs than the burners and with the lenght of time I have been here I have been through every upgrade.

  Yes the burners do look better on paper but they are not. Its probably a more difficult choice for the next upgrade.

  Wedges are youre own choice, I have always prefered the pings but I know many would argue against. With these they are possible the most important clubs in the bag and absolutely essential that you get to know them, how far they hit with spin, no spin, half spin, out of the rough, out of the sand, how they react to wind etc so pick the ones you like the look of and be prepared to keep them a long time. Learn to play the chip, flop and pitch(although I dont use this)There is nothing like a wedge you know.

  I have stayed away from the clevelands because I have no need to look elsewhere, my wedges stop where I want them to on any slope so no need to change. If you want to start with the clevelands now then that may not be a bad thing because you will be learning with them and get used to the extra spin .

  The other thing is look around and see what set ups the top masters, tour masters and legends have. If 70% + are using the same clubs there is a reason.

  OK, cool. I'd read quite a few other threads where people were saying lots of nice things about the G10s, but assumed that was more in relation to the 'high' trajectory L58s :)

   

  Just one last thing then, if I may .....

   

  Even if there is a tiny difference between the swing speeds, is it worth trying to get used to it for the higher trajectory R11? ...... Seeing as I would be getting rid of the hybrid, which I currently find rather useful for landing the ball more softly from distance.
