Initial Putter Range Setting

  There I was lining up my eight foot putt for my attempt for a birdie on Bethpage #18. I was sure i would make it and post a 65 for the round. I hit the putt perfect and the...ZING. The ball shot over the hole and stopped 35 feet away. I looked down and to my shock my putter was set at maximum 50 feet instead of 25 feet.

  I did not select 50 feet. WGT did.

  I would suggest the WGT make it so that the initial putter distance is set to the lowest range of the players putter. Then there will be know suprises (or lost strokes). It would be up to the player to expand the putter range.

  LOL.....I hate that.

  You were probably on the fringe. 

  Always check that you (they) have selected the correct distance.

  I think that the 'autocaddie' is out to get me.

  yes, i would wager 100 credits he was on the fringe.

  always check...not unusual to be set on 60 for a 28' putt as well...assume nothing, check everything.

  As the craftsmen always say... "Measure twice, cut once".

  Always look before you putt, chip, pitch, flop....

  I've had both happen to me.   Go to line up a putt thinking I have the 30 foot putter for a 27 foot downhill putt, and also getting the 15 foot putter for a 14 foot uphill putt.

  Always assume the caddy is out to screw you, and you'll be OK.   :)
