  why should i play in turnaments against tour masters & up if i do not get a handicap

  Are you talking about country club tournaments? If so, and seeing as how you just parted company with your old one, try looking for a new country club that uses a handicap system in its competitions.

  Have a look at the Country Club Corner forum and see which clubs are seeking new members. If you find one you like ask the club owner about handicaps.

  Compared to Legends and up, the shorter tees of Masters are your "handicap."  Most CC's, if running a matchplay comp. of head to head, require "default" tees (so each has their own appropriate tee) AND gives a hole or two for being different tiers.
