Hi guys. I wanted your opinion about two putters. At the moment, I am using the TM Ghost (92+) putter, but I prefer the TM Red Spider's(77+) meter increment (10,20,50,etc.). My question is: is it worth to lose 0.5 of forgiveness that Ghost putter gives, to get a slower meter speed and add 0.5 of forgiveness that the Red Spider offers? I would love to have your opinions. Thanks in advance. I will be waiting for answers.

    Joel.

Hi. If you like the red spider level 77 putter why don't you upgrade to the level 94 version of the red spider putter and get the best of both worlds.  I used the level 92 ghost and went to the level 96 versa and now to the level 98 sabertooth.  I was happy with each of those but had to get the newest and latest.  I really liked them all and am not sorry.

Thanks for the response Corey. I think that +1400 cr between Level 77 and 94 is not worth. The only thing is that the Level 94 one gives you 0.5 + of precision. From 2000 to 3400 only because of that makes no sense to me. Just my opinion

We may be comparing apples to oranges but let me say this --->

When I upgraded from the Odyssey Versa (L71+) to the Odyssey Versa (L96+) for a 4 to a 5 in "Precision" - I GOT RIPPED OFF,,,, BIG TIME.

A FULL number. 4 to a 5. Not one ounce of difference. NOTHING!

My advice - DO NOT UPGRADE for a measly 0.5 or even a full # for ANY of the increments they offer. ITS ALL B*LLSH*T!

Hmmm, my experience was that while the level 70 Versa was a wonderful putter, the level 96 was just a bit better...particularly on the longer putts. And the Sabertooth I'm now using is better still.

I don't know how long you've had the level 96, but it takes time to dial in any new putter.

This might be a long shot but are you an off ding putter?  I'm a try-to-ding-it putter myself but I know many prefer to miss ding in order to aim.

It's just that if you are, I think the extra precision is actually going to make it more difficult to sink putts.  I'm not exactly sure about it though, having rarely tried that method, but thought I'd throw it out there.

It does but in an odd way-you have to miss by a larger margin. The trick is to figure out by how much. I tried it for about 5 minutes.  ;-)

    Precision

    Basically speaks for itself BUT

    Balance

This is the velocity regulator (distance regulator enabling deeper scale length putts to be as close to shallow scale length with shallow being the most reliable). A nice slow (shallow meter) strike will be pretty consistent on several putters.  Start revving this (deeper meter scale) you need more balance (more consistent shaft if you like perhaps).  EDIT: Broad generalization and always best to try before you buy.

    Forgiveness

Should speak for itself but it's fickle between putters.  My current putter I think offers great forgiveness for short range tap in putts with a shallow meter.  Best to be more careful with a deeper meter, especially across face.

    Meter increments (scale length offering)

Whatever floats your boat - last thing I look at as soon get used to any.

All that said it's then a case of learn your putter after choosing what is likely in your ball park of suitability.  And all that said I think the L70 Versa is a super little putter that is possibly the last meaningful word, and everything after might be fluff......Speaking of fluff I hated the L96 Versa but very much like my Sabretooth so go figure.  A fine enough putter in my place loves the L96 Versa and hates my Sabretooth..........Very personal basically.

    Yes.

and I would have to agree with what Jim said. When I miss  the ding by a larger margin the more the precision kicks in. It is weird.
