    Hi all,

As the subject line sugguest,i am a newbie to this site/game (played golf games

    before,just not this one.)..

    1. is there a key i can hit to bring in the grid on the green ,ie for short game toward the green / hole ? so i can see right away wich way the ball might rolls on the green

    2. how come that a 200yds (5W)  club only comes 180yds with 10 wind from behind and green elevated ?

    3. how the heck i can read the green (moving dots) better to figure out how far i have to hold against the break or is it practice and knowing to come some more closer to the hole / pin / flag ?

thanks for any help / suggestion

    1. yes, switch to putter and it should show you the grid

    2. evelation, behind wind makes flight lower, so it will have less carry but more run

    3. no specific way, just practice :)

    good morning,

sorry to change the subject, but what tips do you have re chipping and pitching? I've read the chipping/pitching manifesto that going around. Somewhat confusing but certainly helpful to some degree as well. I still have questions: why does the ball travel some much farther than the club distance indicates when chipping and pitching. I have played 60 or more games since May 19, 2011 and tried may different thing -- at the expense of my overall score, mu you -- and It still remains difficult to get the ball close to the pin.

Is there any additional tips from masters and legends that may help me improve this area of my game?

    hi

i suspect that is due to green speed and slope. if greens are quick and it has down slope, a pitch rated at 13 can likely go 20-25 with the right conditions

    Hello!

Can anyone tell me what average score achieves the Tour Master designation?  Where might I find this info for all ranks greater than Tour Master?

    Hi Hawk,

Wow, came back from the long 6-year absence?

Several threads and posts exist regarding your question and here is what I summarized about Tier Promotion Requirements :

    HACK to AMATEUR
    • Minimum Ranked Rounds : 5 / Average Score : lower than 100

    AMATEUR to PRO
    • Minimum Ranked Rounds : 10 / Average Score : lower than 80

    PRO to TOUR PRO
    • Minimum Ranked Rounds : 20 / Average Score : lower than 72

    TOUR PRO to MASTER
    • Minimum Ranked Rounds : 25 / Average Score : lower than 67

    MASTER to TOUR MASTER
    • Minimum Ranked Rounds : 40 / Average Score : lower than 63

    TOUR MASTER to LEGEND
    • Minimum Ranked Rounds : 50 / Average Score : lower than 61

    LEGEND to TOUR LEGEND
    • Minimum Ranked Rounds : 500 / Average Score : lower than 60

    TOUR LEGEND to CHAMPION
    • Minimum Ranked Rounds : 200 / Average Score : lower than 59

    CHAMPION to TOUR CHAMPION (Estimated)
    • Minimum Ranked Rounds : 200 / Average Score : lower than 58
    • Also Exclusive Personal Invitation from WGT

Hope it helps and good luck to your "after-a-while" journey at WGT! :-)

    Oh Simon!

Nice try, but I'm afraid that you stir up long forgotten errors with this list:

    SimonTheBeetle:
    lower than

Nope: It's "equal to or lower than" in all cases, because hitting the number will promote the player!

It would also be better to add the corresponding decimals, .0 for the upper three, .00 for then next three, .000 for ##7 and 8.

    This

    SimonTheBeetle:
    CHAMPION to TOUR CHAMPION (Estimated)
    Minimum Ranked Rounds : 200 / Average Score : lower than 58

is not an estimate but a blind guess. "Invitation" is the only known cause.

This is the most precise list available:

    HACK to AMATEUR
    • Minimum valid Ranked Rounds : 5 / Average Score : 100.0 or less

    AMATEUR to PRO
    • Minimum valid Ranked Rounds : 10 / Average Score : 80.0 or less

    PRO to TOUR PRO
    • Minimum valid Ranked Rounds : 20 / Average Score : 72.00 or less

    TOUR PRO to MASTER
    • Minimum valid Ranked Rounds : 25 / Average Score : 67.00 or less

    MASTER to TOUR MASTER
    • Minimum valid Ranked Rounds : 40 / Average Score : 63.00 or less

    TOUR MASTER to LEGEND
    • Minimum valid Ranked Rounds : 50 / Average Score : 61.00 or less

    LEGEND to TOUR LEGEND
    • Minimum valid Ranked Rounds : 500 / Average Score : 60.000 or less

    TOUR LEGEND to CHAMPION
    • Minimum valid Ranked Rounds : 200 / Average Score : 59.000 or less

    ***  to TOUR CHAMPION
    unknown, by invitation only

Valid ranked rounds are 9 hole or 18 hole strokeplay appearing in the score history, with the exclusion of rounds on Par3, Par5 and CC Custom courses.
