Are the conditions the same for all players in ready go contests? Just finished St Andrews back 9 with no wind less than 23 mph!! UGH! Shot a -1.

Wind is random.  And from what I can figure, that means both strength and direction.

In other words, you and I could play the same ready-go but have opposite wind directions on the same hole.  And probably different speeds as well.

    I think....

If that is the case then that is NOT COOL!! +24mph winds for a whole tourney is rough.

To clarify, the strength would be random within the given range for the tournament....and the heavy winds on that STA back 9 are anywhere from about 20mph up to 30mph.

Every player will face roughly the same conditions, but not necessarily identical.  Similar to the way wind gusts in real life would alter things slightly from one player to the next....

The ST Andrews tourneys played under heavy wind conditions are to a large extent down to luck. Some holes are a nightmare into a strong headwind, the same hole can be a pussycat with a tailwind. You just have to accept that you are not going to score heavily under par every time you play one. Last night I had a 29 in the back 9, today a 33. Not solely down to the wind but certainly a big part of it. Last night the winds were very favourable.
