Have played about 30 rds as a tour pro.Today I shot a 38 on the back 9 at BBB. My avg. went from 73.12 to 73.How does that make any sense?

    Reverse Mathcology.

If you want something to do a certain thing...you have to tell it do the opposite.

In this case, desired result = average going down. To obtain that, you need to do the opposite...eg: shoot above your average...which you did. Quite simple, really.

Kidding aside, it's due to the formula used to calculate your average.  It only uses your best "X-number" of rounds in the calculation.  If that "X-number" included a 39 or higher, your 38 would replace that score, and your average would thus come down, even though the 38 is higher than your current average.

It used to be the top 10 of your last 14 rounds with the 4 worst getting thrown out. It's possible your 38 knocked out a higher, earlier score.

I am certain that has changed.  When I was running up to level 62 so I could get a longer driver, I played the Oakmont Open and BPB at tourney settings repeatedly, shooting at least 20 rounds in the 70s in a row, and my average never budged from 67.12 until I got my new clubs and played the Tour Pro Open, shooting a 65 and dropping my average to 66.96 and elevating me to Master.

I thought it was the top 10 of your best 14 rounds?  Which would be consistent with JaLaBar's experience.

Since the big change nobody knows what's going on but before that it was only the last 14 rounds you shot. LOL-sandbaggers had a field day!
