Oakmont humility

  Well, I think I just finished my worst hole in RG history.  #18 at Oakmont.  I just 5 putted from 12 feet.  Nothing like staring at a potential birdie putt and finishing with a triple to ruin your RG.  #$(%

   

  By the way, is it just me or is there more anomalies on Oakmont than any other course?  By that, I mean for example holes that you know exactly how long you should hit your club but you come up 30 yards short or putts that bend completely differently than you expect?

   

  Anyway, Oakmont monster ate me up today.  Hopefully, Ill conquer next time....

  Oakmont is an enigma to me. I find my round dictated by what I do on the first three holes. Get off to a flier and the rest seems to fall into place. I say that no matter whether it's the front, back or 18 hole RG I'm playing. 1, 2 & 3 and 10, 11 & 12 are all holes a birdie can be made on but frustratingly they can also see you over par. A course that also can throw out one of those putting days where nothing drops.....
