The new Cleveland 64°

  G0LD:

  I keep trying that Cleveland 60y (level 80), and being put off by the wildly different results in out of bunker shots, from identical percentage lies and similar landings. What on earth am I doing wrong or not understanding right? My Z Satin still appears far more consistent and reliable.

  I have been keeping records on every flop and full shot (I rarely use punch or chip) taken from rough, sand and fairway within 42' - 7' of green/flagstick since getting the cleveland  60 yd wedge couple months back.

  Aside from times where I have missed the dingline  dramatically, the club appears faultless in consistency for distance and spin and it's hard to believe pitch & chip shots would be any different.

  Very good club, at first I did'nt like them so went back to my Tour-W 's, a few weeks later tried the Cleveland 's again, and now I like them, had to get use them. I use the 56 and 64 Cleveland 's and the 60 Tour-W. A nice set-up for me. Better than the Satin's.

  I was very hesitant to switch from my Satin 64 degree.  I had already switched my 60 and 56 degree, but I was so good with the Satin 64 that at first I figured 'Why mess with a good thing", but I did switch and a month later, I am sooo glad I did.  I am much closer to the hole (say 2' instead of 2y), and making a lot more from off the green.  I play like Darsum... I pretty much hit full shot with the CG 64 degree on everything inside 55'.  If it is above 42 feet I play no BS.  Below 42' I play full BS.  With BS, I add 8y to the shots from fairway or 20-25%, 10y to shots from 30-40%, and 12y on shots from 40-50%.  Works quite well for me.

  My current -- and obviously improvable and expandable -- findings are summed up in the following notes.

  Yards to subtract from stated club distance -- level 80 Cleveland 64% (60y) vs Z Satin 64% (50y).
  
  Rough (full): half Z (e.g., 40% = 20y : 2 = Z 10y : 2 = 5y + 1y = C 6y + relative back spin)
  
  Bunker (full): half Z (e.g., 30% = Z  16y = C 11y; i.e., 33y : 3 X 2 : 2 + relative back spin;  -2y bs on max)
  
  Bunker (flop): subtract low percentage + -2y max back spin

  I've been deviating from using full shot on everything below 52 yrds lately. I've actually used the flop option about 5 times in the last 2 days! I holed one for eagle on BPB #4 the other day from 29 yrds out with the Cleveland 60°. It flops to 29 yrds reliably. 26 yrds with full bs. The other times I used it and will continue to use it will be on severe downhill/sidehill chips. It won't release near as much when you're on tourney greens.

  I'm still too hard headed to use the pitch/chip options on run of the mill chip shots though. My TM 64° is just too reliable for chipping with full shot mode.
