Yesterday I made Master. I have no idea why or how, I play a bunch but really haven't been playing that well. I mean, I have a 74.96 average. Anybody have an idea why I got moved up?

Your average resets with every tier. So when you make tour master it will reset again with the first game you play..

    Congrats!

Average calculation resets when you are promoted.

See the FAQ for additional info. =>

Looking at your scores, I'd say it was probably scoring well in tournaments. That's often the fast track to promotion.

I don't think the OP is referring to why his average is what it is. Rather, he seems to be asking why he tiered up when he hasn't been playing all that well (in his words).

if you look at his scores, yes, he's done well in some bracket events. But the most recent score is from October. Also, his activity doesn't show any match play or other matches.

So, the question remains as to why he tiered up. I have to wonder if he plays coin matches and it's somehow tied to that. Regardless, given his score history and activity log, it's a bit curious as to why he would tier up.

Jim, there are players that just catch on faster than others. Don't let it get you down.

I play better players than me all the time, and I'm content if I play my game and not his. In otherwords, be happy with how you play. If you are competitive with Him/Her, be happy It's just a game.

    Don

Excuse me, I didn't look into your profile before.

Indeed, you were promoted without playing any ranked round recently. As a consequence, your average is unchanged.

I can only guess, but the only possible explanation that I see is that you might have played on mobile recently, and there, a tier promotion may be coupled with a level promotion because the games special to mobile play are considered practice rounds, not counting towards the average.
