Hi everyone. I've been out of the game for a bit and cannot seem to find the driving/approach thread.

There was a great chart that showed range, windage( tails, heads and sides) with a sort of simple formukla then some genius created a whole chart. It works to a point and hope someone or a LOT of you will give your input or post the secret formula(s).

    Thank you,

ck, my simple formula is as follows.........

I hit an extra ft for every 2mph wind so a 200 yd shot in to a 20mph wind, I'll hit 210

With the 20mph tailwind just take the ten off the 200

with crosswinds get in the habit of using the grid on the greens and for every square to the left or right counts for five yards. on some of the coastal courses you may have to add a couple of yards to that calculation on the 25/30mph winds but that square grid is a good way of measuring where to hit. so remember 5yards per block (I'm a mobile player now but hopefully that grid is there on the PC version)

    good luck

Thanks I was looking for this link with the calc and the graph also but the calculation using 0.58 as a K-constant works okay except side windage( usually dive about by 2 on winds...not included is incline or declination which is where my notes come in).

The calc was a s per example.

    170 yds, 14mph winds, K=0.58, then:

    (170)(0.58)(14.0)=13.8 yds.

Add 170+13.8, then drive should be approx 181.80plus or minus a bundle of variables.

I had it in my head a couple years ago,

If you are thinking about Sgt Bilkos calculator I tried and the facebook page is gone plus the download is full of spam so I do not have that nor access to it but that works also.

I believe someone even did a chart on green speeds but it was too convoluted.

Yes there was a chart but that chart as one of the better players stated is blown out of the water with any ball with spin more than 2 or 3.

With Kats it takes some time to set it up but once set up you can get fairly close on most shots.

Thanks. I took a couple years off and it's been fun but not near where my averages are. Do you have any suggestions on side winds. I remember the super pros telling me basically divide the windage  by 2 and it works okay  but that doesn't deal with all variables as usual.

For instance if a 17 mph side wind just divide by two(17)(0.5)- and presto it either goes long or short depending on offsets/incline/decline etc. I even tried the scale for a bit but it started getting in the way of the fun.

I need to go to the gym and work on index finger dexterity and strengthening!

Use 5.7 for headwinds and 3.9 for tail per 100y.

    A good starting point for sides are @50y *.3,  @75y *.45,  @100y, *.6, @125y *.7,  @150y *.8, @175y *.9, @200y, *1.

With decent clubs and balls that spin this gets you close most times.  If hitting shots Flat and w/out spin then for shots of 125+ you might need to take off a tad.

I messed up and stated "tail winds" when I meant side winds. You have suggestions for side winds? I think it would be hard but someone probably has a formula. Thank you.

LOL. Ya right, get that slide rule out. Know the club you're hitting and just make sure to miss on the wind side. Gimme if you know what you're hitting.

I am probably wrong here but a 3 o'clock wind @ 15mph no matter what the yardage being  I just move the aimer left of pin 15 yards.
