Andy, for what is worth, since I am not in the WGT olimpus, I have noticed the same decrease in spin from outside the fringe. I am also using the clevelands which had superior stickability on flops before the new update.

    FOUND IT!

Everybodies spin has been allocated to me.

I know this because on four greens I have hit within 2 inchereenies of the pin and wound up 2 ft back off the green. You can all have it back now, I have no further practical use for it.

f you have nothing constructive to add then why post just to knock someone!!, he thinks it is a problem as do other people here, we are not all superior golfers like yourself obviously.

That was hardly a knock and I am quite far from being a superior golfer. I do know how to learn stuff, though, and advice to lay off the spin to learn a club is spot on. Choking down on the CGs as well as the Burners, clubs with copious amounts of spin, do produce short flights. What do you expect?

How can a club that just came out change with the same update it came out in?

    Dear Lizzie,

You are trying to put a different spin to this discussion I see, but I fear the discussion won't stop here and will continue rolling for a while - 3 to 5 yards in my rough estimate - but will it go the distance?

Seriously though. Jim distance is an ephemeral thing that will baffle most of us from time to time, and we have learned to live with its idiosyncrases, but the spin on flops, and from pre-existing cleveland clubs I had, has thinned down considerably. The question is: Was this a change by design or a bug developed through the re-shuffle of the code needed in order to "fix" the fringe?

One last thing - please WGT can you fix my fringe too as the hair loss has messed up with it! ;)

I'm not sure what you mean by this, Sanco. I haven't experienced  any change at all. I do know that the clubs react quite differently depending on the ball being used but the yardages and performance are still the best.

IMO this spin business is really making some lives miserable. These new CGs coupled with the Callaway spin ball have their own world. Just maxing the spin on the 100 and the 80 knocks 10 yards off the distance, wind not included. Backspin into the wind acts completely different than spin with the wind. Switch to another ball, maybe the Callaway distance ball or the Srixons and you get completely different results.

Unless you account for all the factors, expecting consistent results will cause you a lot of grief. The CG64w and the CG80w back up without any spin at all! The best way to learn these clubs is to lay off the spin.

I can vouch for superior and alarming spin from the Cleves.

I holed vertically from 58 yds with a 60 wedge, it hit the bottom of the cup and then spun vertically upwards along the flag pole, and then leapt 9 yards back to the fringe.

What I mean Jim, is that I used to flop, from say 25 yards and the ball would not roll more than a yard. This has now changed and the ball at times rolls for 4 - 6 yards. Never mentioned the distance. In actual fact my 100 yarder always went further than the stated yardage - go figure. (yes no top spin and wind in front).

Jim, I have the same equipment, same balls, same callaways and same computer. You know I have been around for a while now, so while I am a crappy player I still have some understanding of the game. Please believe me when I say it has changed.

I still have loads to learn on the game, but having used the callaways (z) and the clevelands from day one I have a good understanding on how they behave. ;)

The Callaway (z) is quite different from the (s) and comparing the CGs with them doesn't work. I can only go by what I see in front of me and my spin hasn't changed. The spin difference on flops between the 2 balls is also very different and I can see your rollout happening with the (z). It hasn't changed with the other one, at least not here.

Switch to the (s) ball and see for yourself. It's cheaper anyway.  :-)
