    Hi Rick,

Presuming you are doing everything correctly but still getting these funky results i have a possible explanation for you.

I've no problems with that shot myself, In fact my fav' shot from 18 yd's - 53 yd's BUT previously i had some funky results when doing everything correctly & it happened on a previous Browser.

Like you the shot would back up/Spin back yard's, I'd double check before i hit to make sure i'd the 50 punch selected & it would still back up (From FW) & how i solved it with that old browser was to take a "ghost" swing, Let the meter run through but don't click as the caddy will probably initially give you the 60 yd Full Wedge 1st & then you switch to the punch but even though it shows the 50 punch in your hands it was like it didn't register until i took a "ghost" swing & then i'd get the hop n stop.

The above only happened with one particular old Browser, I no longer have that problem so don't need to do the "ghost" swing anymore, Try it if you like your Browser & want to stick with it for meter smoothness or try switching to a different Browser

    Ken

I only use full backspin when punching 80 % and less , if you have 50 punch and use full bs it will roll back.

I disagree. Full back spin on the CG 64W punch from fairway will always stop, hit  at any % of swing. Partial spin is what causes massive back roll. 71 Nikes.

your right Jim , I am a bit rusty , you can indeed full spin all punch shots

First I want to thank all of you for the responses and your help. I really appreciate it.

I love the punch shot and do use it from all areas and all distances especially from the rough. But what my head was thinking and what my fingers typed were not quite the same. I love to use the punch from 60 yards in because it is so accurate. I use my 60 and 64 wedge mainly and have them chart like Walkoflife did for his. But here recently I have started getting these 5 -7 yard roll back and it just burns the behind, knowing how accurate the punch is, it was the one shot that help me the most to get to my level. I have also noticed that some of my distances have changed, so updating the chart may be in order.

I have a few games to play today and I will record all of my punch shots (if I get any) to help illustrate what I am doing, that may help.

Thank you all again and I will incorporate or try your suggestions.

    I didn't know that.

    Thanks!

Wondered where you went. Grande Oaks needs to put a team in the WC, surprised you guys aren't jumping in.

@Robert. The full swing with full back spin does the same thing from fairway.  :-)

It's just so counter-intuitive to me that full backspin stops but partial backspin backs up.

Well, I have been videoing all of my punch shot since Sunday to try and record the back roll, but as luck would have it every punch shot (no matter the distance) has been almost perfect. So I have now realized if I have an issue with WGT, to correct it, all I need to do is bring it up in the forum.

    Thank you all again

This is a pretty good indication of some messed up files during a session. If it ever happens again, clear your cache or quit the game and restart your browser. This forces the files to be reloaded and if a few of them were corrupted, they get fixed.

Ok during an Alt Shot game last night it happened to me again. See the attached link. The only thing I can think of is the headwind caused the ball to roll backwards. Understandable. So today I went back to St. Andrew to try and recreate a punch shot into a headwind. Tired 6 or 7 times and could not get the ball to roll backwards.
