Has WGT ever considered letting the player set their own distance for a player's driver? For example, the default distance target for driver is 245 yds. My typical drive in benign conditions is 295 yards so I spend a few seconds finding the right distance and landing spot. Time spent searching for the landing spot DISTANCE is time not spent playing. Different drivers have different default distances but I can only recall seeing the 245 yd standard driver distance landing spot. I think the only club this really matters for is driver. And remember WGT, the faster I play the more hits I can make and the more balls I use.

My Driver defaults to 289 yards but actually goes 304 with no wind.

I guess not, because that would be one unwanted choice for the players.

Mind you, besides the Mulligan (in practice only), there's not a single choice available outside the immediate play of the ball. Ball position on the tee, relief from water hazards, unplayable balls - none of the real game's choices are included.

You 2 are missing what he is saying, He doesn’t want to take the time to aim his drive. He just wants to hit his drive toward the default spot where the aim arrow is.  So he wants to be able to set the default distance closer to his actual driver distance so he can just tee off without taking a few seconds to aim his shot. Not a good idea especially with a moderate to heavy crosswinds.

If playing mobile, the following won't work.

In another thread, I mentioned my way around this on PC/Lappy. I aim drives by using the inset hole marker. I consider the blue triangle to be 24 yards across.

    Saves time. Works for me.

There are a few holes that are needle threaders. I use the fairway cams and pitch grid for those.

Most of the default aim points are laughable. #18 PB comes to mind. The programmer must have thought it a hoot to aim for the fairway trees from the tips.

I concur...even worse than the default aim points are the auto-caddy clubs that get handed to us...especially the wedges and default distances with the putters.  You can putt off the greens if you don’t triple-check things.  Double-checking isn’t quite enough on some holes/shots.

Close.  I want to be able to change the default aim box distance at the tee to reflect my normal, low wind driving distance of 297 yds (for others reading this thread, remember, your ball and club may be different).  From there, it's easier to adjust for wind.  WGT always puts the aim box on a direct line to the pin or in the case of sharp doglegs, middle of the fairway.  That means I start each tee shot with a 50 yd adjustment.  From there I observe elevation changes from tee box and wind direction changes.  Having to start each Par 4/5 shot with a 50 yard +/- adjustment to my expected landing spot is a time waster.  I'm slow enough at this game, and lazy too!

Agreed.  I stopped using the caddy for that reason.  I make enough mistakes on my own without the caddy handing me a wrong club.  I get the irony here.  Choosing to make my own club selection sort of contradicts my original post theme of saving time.

Yes, but you never get what you don't ask for (with the exceptions of trouble).
