I just blew what should've been my first perfect round at Bethpage F9. Starting off with birdies on 1-4 isn't all that uncommon for me, but #5 and #7 are both very tough birds. I usually settle for pars on those two holes, it's rare that I birdie even one of them much less nail them both. So for the first time ever I'm on the #9 teebox sitting at -8, I'll birdie hole #9 at least 9 times out of 10 so it's pretty much in the bag at this point, but of course my brain is trying to convince me that something is going to go wrong. I think my mistake was becoming too focused, I turned off the radio and sat up straight, over anticipated the ding and hit my approach shot almost half an inch early. I had a chance to salvage it though, I was left with an extremely makeable 20 foot putt with almost no break, it would drop without fail if I could just ding it. Well of course I couldn't, I missed the ding by a sliver and lipped out. FML.
