I'm (finally) almost to level 79, which will make me eligible for the Burner 2.0s.  From what I've read, I will most definitely be making the switch.  But not sure if it's a good idea to do so with the Open coming up.

For those who have switched, can I learn them in time to compete with them in the championship rounds?  Or should I use what has got me here and wait until after the majors?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason

Without question, Jason. Team them up with the Callaway (s) ball and I'd bet even money you will have one of your best rounds right out of the chute.

Big warning----hit them without spin until you get comfortable with them. The spin does different things with them than the G10s. For instance, using backspin into a head wind will absolutely kill the distance a ton.  They forgive more and with the extra precision and spin they have you will be astounded by the way you can control them without the spin. Sounds good, YJ.  I will get to level 79 sometime today and will give it a go.  Excited but also a little nervous for the change.  Been using the G10s for so long, almost don't want to give them up.  I've made other equipment changes in the past that have been beneficial, so I'm sure this won't be as bad as I'm thinking.

I'll welcome any other advice or comments from those using the 2.0s.  Only have two and a half weeks learn them. :-)

LOL-you'll forget them before the end of the first round. The difference in them is where the astonishment shows up.  :-)

I'm in exactly the same quandary but my game is shite so there is no question I expect these clubs to improve my accuracy, and thus have better birdie chances.

Currently I'm averaging 19 feet  from the hole, so easy to improve on that.

    I'll be buying in 3 - 4 days maybe.

Good luck 'hesomist' and enjoy the best clubs

As I said in another post "If they can hold the green on BP #5 with a 5 iron or above, without a headwind, I'm sold. If not I'll keep the G10s."

I almost pulled the trigger on the 2.0s when I came back from vacation yesterday. But I already know what's going to happen when I buy them. They are going to come out with new Callaway irons that match the Callaway metals meter and match the 2.0s in every other category. Just wait...

AND I'll have to add a 3rd wedge! Nope, sorry, just can't do it.

    Yet......

I like the Z balls with them in preference to the spin balls..The z's really give you plenty of spin and that little bit of distance I think can make alot of difference on the longer courses.

I made the switch about 1 week into US Open qualifying.  I had already posted a 60 with the G-10's.  It took me about 2 weeks of playing several qualifying rounds a day to get back near the same level.  Once I had the 2.0's dialed in, I was probably a better player than before by a stroke or two, shooting my first sub-60 rounds ever.

I was definitely tempted to switch back, particularly on Congressional #1, where the 110-120 distance comes up often.  If you don't know your punch shots (or play with the 115 Cleveland), that's a tough distance with the 2.0's.  However, I stuck it out and have very much enjoyed the improved spin ability (both backspin and topspin).

The 2.0's may or may not improve your accuracy.  The faster meter is a challenge, especially at first.  Where they excel is in throwing darts.  When you do have a long iron, and ding it with the right spin, you are looking at a pretty easy birdie.  Just expect more missed greens for awhile.

The other big difference, to me, is that you lose more distance control when you take swing at anything other than full.  The G-10's gave you a lot more leniency for such shots.  With the 2.0, at least to me, you are better off hitting full and using topspin/backspin to make up for distance gaps.
