LOL-I remember helping to push you over the edge. Now I can say told ya so, knew you'd get it.  I trust you know about punching that PW to cover that 110-120 now. Nice going! ;-)

Jim, et al., should I take the Burner plunge?

Does it mean I will be chained to expensive slow golf balls going forward?

I had the Tri driver with a fast meter and it drove me crazy, but I read elsewhere Jim's comment that the Tri meter actually speeds up in some special way near the end of the stroke. If so, is it the same with the Burners?

Considering it is about 25 bucks, maybe the money should instead be given to the poor.

    Thoughts?

I don't think so. I learned them with the Tour-SD ball. Mind you, this was after using the i15s and I thought the swing was smoother and a bit slower. Going to them from G10s will require a short learning period but infinitely doable without a lot of headache. They have more forgiveness than the G10s, so that helps.  The biggest headache is with the R11s. They are slower and if you're not consciously telling yourself the irons are faster you find yourself pulling them (or the driver/3w.)

I switched to the Callaway spinner to see how that changed things and that was a mistake because I'm spoiled now. LOL.( I'm actually spending less on them because they last longer than the SDs.)

With your skill, Z, I think you'd do well to make the switch.  GL

I made the switch and use the free balls most of the time (I'm cheap) and actually find them easier to ding than the g10's, and the way I play if it works for me...anyone can get used the Burner 2.0.

So, Jim, I'm hearing I should spring for the Burners instead of giving to the poor.

But let's put the choice in stark terms -

Buying the new Burner 2.0 irons and lowering my WGT average a couple of strokes: $25.

Handing $25 to a bum on the street and saying, "Here. Get yourself a nice set of virtual golf clubs": Priceless.

These clubs are a great choice if you like missing every shot you take to the right because of the ridiculous meter. My score has jumped noticably because of this shitty set of irons.

    For sale!

Try them with the balls I just sent you. Bet you change your mind.  ;-)

WOW! Read this, entered a tourny at Kiawah, took my drive, and second shot using an iron went dead straight and landed 5 yrds from the pin. Missed my birdie putt damnit, but WOW! What a difference!

Don't know why the type of ball used would affect the swing meter's speed, but it does!

Thanks a lot Jim for your act of kindness in giving me those balls and teaching me something today. May all your rounds be well under par!

I use them almost only with Callaway Tour S and love them. The meter is just about manageable with Tour SD balls but so much nicer with Cally's.

And seeing a 3 iron float up, land on the green 200+ yards away and then stop within a couple of yards is a great feeling, something I don't think any other iron set here will give you, not even the i15.

They're even a huge bargain if you compare them to the Tour PLUS iron set at 2,990 credits. How the hell can that price possibly be justified?  Is WGT preying on the new player who thinks wow, 2,990, they must be great?  Seriously WGT, either drop those things from the shop or make them a realistic price, you're charging Ferrari money for a Lada there.
