How about a virtual yardage book so we can check the greens for our approach shots

how do you mean? on top right shows how much to the hole, and you have clubs + yardages for them. are you looking for something else?

Yardage book isn't what I'm talking about.  Poor choice.  I mean a topographical representation for the green. Showing tiers, ridges and slopes.

Example:  St Andrew's 18th.    We know that we are 130 yards from a flag that is 3 ft above (just a guess) us.   A view from directly above that shows where the ridge is to avoid rolling into the valley.

Hope that helped get my idea across.

    Jimbo555:

you mean like an arrow in the bottom right corner that you can click on and Sky Caddie will show you distances to the major parts of the green and surrounding bunkers and such.  then you could use your aiming device to move to different parts of the green to see pin point distances from where you are.  Then when you switch your shot type to chip or pitch the green topo grid appears.then if it's too small you could right click and zoom in a little closer and get a real good look.

    That would be cool.

EDIT:  My apologies for the sarcasm, i had a long day.  Also dont forget to switch back to Full Swing before your shot.

Talking about 18 @ St. Andrews. full swing is not always the best option there. I have made quite a few birdies and 1 eagle using the punch shot with my wedges. The punch shot seems to be more easily controlled.

ok, lets try this again.  St Andrews #18  120 yards out . Bottom right corner, click on the arrow to get the Zoom and Sky Caddie yardage.

Overhead view will appear. Some are better than others. Next step is to change your swing to chip or pitch. When you aim the topo grid of the green will appear.  If it's too small.  Right Click and Zoom in.   Move your aimer around and you've got all the info you need.

When you're ready to take your shot, be sure to switch back to full swing (or swing of choice) for the shot.   Hope this was helpful.

    Good idea Jimbo,

I really like the idea....all "the stuff" is already programmed, just not currently accessible as he describes it above.

Mehh. I didnt even realise there was an option other than the "valley of eternal regret".

So what everyone is saying then, is that it is actually possible to get the ball near the flag thingie?

    Ya right.

Being the anal retentive person that I am, I just finished making my own sketches of every green (6 courses) with the main topo features.  But to Lizzie's point, you still have to hit the shot and even then (#2 St. A) it might not be enough.
